新年快乐 (2013)- Eve 除夕 & CNY Day 1 初一

We ushered in the (water) snake year last weekend & it was raining almost every day! Neverthless, it was a long weekend break for all of us, visiting relatives & friends. Hope everyone had enjoyed the first 3 days of celebration and now, it's time to hit the gym and back to exercise regime to shed off those extra kilos that we have put on during the feasting period :)

Red packets that we have prepared for our parents, grandparents & relatives.
Reunion dinner on CNY eve, @ in-law's place first before heading back to mummy dearest place. This year, we had 盆菜 on the table, together with other dishes that Mummy-in-law whipped.
It has become a habit for me to wear new clothes for the new year. For the past couple of years, I've been wearing all shades of red/pink to celebrate the festive season. This year, I'm dressed in shades of blue/green :) My outfit for CNY reunion dinner. Love the intricate lace details on the dress.

We headed back to mummy dearest place for 2nd round. We always have steamboat on reunion dinner.

The guys helping out in the kitchen.

And, they proceeded to eat w/o me.
 with the lil bro :)

The 1st day of CNY ~ headed to Parents'-in-law's place to 拜年 first, before heading to grandparents' place for 2nd round.

Black, blue & green are my lucky colours this year (not that I'm superstitious), but my outfit happened to capture all the 3 colours together, huat ar!
with my lil brother, all grown up! People tend to say we look alike, but we always beg to differ.

On instagram :)

Xmas Gathering with JC mates

The last Xmas post I have for last year! This was sitting in my draft folder and had slipped my mind to publish this till now, opps. Anyway, Leecher's JC mates came over to our place for a Xmas/housewarming session, as they couldn't make it during our housewarming party.
Pot luck session, with each person contributing an item to the table.
Gracie's helper came along and helped to look after the kids while the mummies catch up with their friends.

Busy in the kitchen cutting fruits for everyone.

The bottle of wine that got everyone's attention!
Log cake first before present exchange.
It was time to exchange presents! We had to first select a present from underneath the tree.
Us, with the initial presents selected. Jeff suggested to make the gift-exchange more interesting - that is, each one will write the rules of the exchange on a piece of paper. For example, all those wearing specs will exchange presents with those wearing shorts. Hence, you never know what you will be getting at the very end.
With all our final presents revealed!
Leecher got a tube of hand-cream as his pressie, so he passed it to me & ended up with no present, lol!

Dec Babies Birthday Celebration

The december babies (Kenneth, Pris & Me) met up to celebrate our birthdays together, as well as a pre-Xmas gathering with the Uni mates.

Made reservations @ Shunjuu Izakaya, a Japanese restaurant located along Robertson Quay.

Wall of fame.
Arrived early @ 7pm & we were one of the early birds.

Got a table tucked at the corner, where we have a clear view.
Miniature Xmas decorations :)

We ordered some dishes first, while waiting for the rest to make their way here.

Free entree was white cabbage and lady's fingers. I was caught by surprised that the cabbage can be eaten raw, lol! The sweet bean sauce is good for dipping, a perfect complement to the tasteless cabbage.
Shunjuu stocks some of the top nihonshu (commonly known as Sake) from all prefectures of Japan. We got the newspaper Sake (the bottle was literally wrapped up in fancy Japanese newspaper) to start the night.
Mixed Sashimi platter to start the ball rolling.
Then we went crazy from there, ordering lots of Sumiyaki, also known as Japanese Tapas, washing these down with the sake that we've ordered.
 Gan-bae!

Boss EK got us cake from Laurent Bernard.

And, he only bought 1 small cake to share b/w the 3 of us. Where got like that one? So we sent him back to the shop and buy more, lol!

Ta-dah! A cake for each Dec baby :)
The small birthday cakes that we all had :) realised that this year, I've been eating a lot of small cakes for my birthday. Time to cut the sugar level, lol!

Desserts on top of the cakes. It's pretty easy to guess which is the hot favourite.
The most expensive meal in our dining history, no thanks to KKB, lol!
