Housewarming - Family

Held another session for our family, inviting both sides of the family to our humble residence. Housewarming party is normally held approximately 120 days of moving into a new residence, an occasion for the hosts to present their new home to their friends. The term "housewarming" is descended literally from the act of warming a new house, in the days before central heating. Each guest would bring firewood & build fires in all the available fireplaces, offering firewood as a gift. Aside from warming the house, this was also believed to repel evil spirits by creating a protective atmosphere of warmth.

Catered food from Chilli Padi, but was disappointed with the quality of food. The otah that came was sour and we had to throw away the whole tray. Even though we catered for 30 pax, the quantity that came were enough for 20 pax - we had to order pizza delivery. I called to complain the very next day & they did some damage control thereafter. However, once bitten, twice shy. Don't think I'll cater from them in the near future.
Mummy dearest secretly placed order for 2 items, to give us as housewarming gifts. Thank you Mummy! The cake even came with a picture that matches the theme of the invite that we sent out to our friends :) Mummy dearest & me do share great telepathy @ times, haha!

Housewarming - Our Friends

To make things easier for us, we decided to have a combined housewarming for friends & colleagues in a single day - morning session for colleagues & afternoon session for friends. It was good to have all the friends over to chill out. Our tiny house suddenly came to life with chatters and whats-not.

So, I sent this invite out to all our friends, informing them of our party :)
Caterer came promptly at 10am to set up the table & food. Kudos to them for their efficiency!

All done within 10 mins!
Made a mistake in ordering both rice & noodles & we had to throw away quite a lot of food after tabao, for it was just too much. Nevertheless, the curry chicken was superb!

Colin came early with a housewarming gift.
Nespresso Pixie, much to Leecher's delight! It was a combined gift from some of his colleagues & they bought blue to match the colour of our place. *so thoughtful*

The latest offering from the Nespresso family, Pixie is the smallest machine to date, measuring just 111mm across by 235mm. . It's easy to use & most importantly, cleaning is fuss-free.

Enjoy gourmet coffee in just 4 simple steps:
1. Put a cup
2. Place a capsule & close the lid
3. Press the button & wait for a few seconds
4. Coffee is ready

There is a wide variety of flavours to choose from as well.

Rinta bought 2 boxes of cupcakes for us - thank you dear! They really do taste good :)

A lovely vase of flowers from his colleague who couldn't make it for the party.
A great Thank You to all our friends who came over to mess up our place, lol! We'll put all the gifts to good use :) Didn't have the time to take pic with everyone though.

Housewarming - Leecher's Sec School Friends

The start of the new week, 7 days into the brand new year. Had a great time over the weekend with the brothers & sisters @ Joe's housewarming ... and congrats to Amos & Miaoli! Glad to be part of the proposal video, great effort by Amos :) Another sister getting hitched and joining the club.

***
Was looking through the folders and realised that I've yet to complete the reno journey *guilty face* so here I am, with the last part of our journey, which is ..... HOUSEWARMING! We wanted to hold different mini sessions for different groups of friends, so we started off with Leecher's sec school friends.

Table of food that was catered from Qi Ji. Ordered their famous laksa & DIY popiah set.

 Laksa station .

 Popiah station.
Leecher took charge of the laksa station, helping his "customers" to portion the noodles.
Raymond feeling very proud of his creation, bagus!

Shuya decided to eat her popiah like a wrap.

Leecher's popiah looked pretty decent *surprise*

Damn proud of his achievement.
My creation,  looked more value for money than Leecher's version.
Zhiguang breaking all the boundaries in popiah... with his Picasso rendition.

New generation of fine-dining popiah.
Giving pointers to Yanni & Kaiwei who have recently collected their keys to their love nest.
Gavin, back in Singapore after 1yr trip to LDN for studies. Bet he must be craving for local food.
Very much like a pro, all thanks to his cooking training in LDN.
Jacq's version looked very appetizing as well :)
Lastly, Yanni put on her apron and made popiah for both Kaiwei and her. Kaiwei really #likeaboss!
I made jelly and jellyhearts as desserts for them too, uber proud of myself, haha!
Having a go @ Kinect. We realised that our place was too small, so we had to shift the sofa. #truestory of a small HDB flat.

Special thanks for Raymond & Shuya for the bedside lamp. Love it TTM :)
