CNY with Sis & Bro

Touched down on Saturday from the trip and it was close to 2am before I hit the comfy bed and finally switched on the TV, after 4 days of non-TV in BKK. Sunday was such a nice day to sleep in, for it was raining for almost the whole day. I had to literally drag myself out of bed and put the laundry into the washer, unpacked my bags and get down to work. Before (even more) stuff starts to pile up, here's another backdated entry :)

CNY with the brothers & sisters gang! A trip into JB to the korean restaurant that they went while we were in Bali for pre-honeymoon. They whatsapp us the pictures and I was drooling! Filled with envy at the spread that they had!

Jang Won BBQ Korean restaurant located in JB is located along the coastline of the ex-customs. You can choose to have alfresco dining or indoors.

The drink that got all the girls hooked!

Close to 17 side dishes, all refillable. I love the pancakes the most, followed by pumpkin.

I think we ordered Set C or Set D, which comes with supply of pork, chicken, beef and lamb. They will have a helper onsite to help you with the BBQ, cut it for you when its done. Thumbs up for service!

Seafood pancake as side dish. We were famished when we arrived for being stuck in the jam for close to 2 hours.

Ended the meal with maggi mee, tofu and sausage :) yum yum yum!

Happy faces after a satisfying meal!

Reno Diary - Lights, Shine Lights P2

During the renovations, we spent most of the time during weekends combing up and down different parts of Singapore looking for stuff for the house. We went lights shopping in Geylang - and found most of our lights in this little shop hidden at a corner. I reckoned it was a family-run business and the owner happened to graduate from NTU as well!

Arrival of the loots

Lovely day from the service yard :) We arrived early at the place and saw Edwin & assistant hard at work already.

Cement and all other wetworks stuff all piled up in the kitchen. More on wetworks process later!

The lights that we bought arrived! The delivery uncle unpacking the lights and letting us check through before heading for another delivery.

This is our electrician, Edwin hard @ work - measuring the lights dimensions for the false ceiling.

We left them to do their work while we headed off for more house-shopping :)

Lights, Shine Lights

Fluorescent lights in the living room, to create a cosy ambience :)

Down lights scattered all over the false ceiling.

Reno Diary - Lights, Shine Lights P1

In home renovations, electric works are quoted separately for these are largely dependent on how much electric works you want to carry out within the house. We first met up with the electrician our ID works with, but his quotation were beyond our budget. Henceforth, based on Leecher's friend recommendation, we engaged another electrician who gave us a quote that was within our budget and able to cater to all our requests *yippee* He's flexible and delivers work promptly. Even when I had to make him adjust the front door light 3 times, he did it without charging us extra.

He was like a magician, able to conjour things out from nowhere. When the WIW was all ready, I noticed that the power point that was supposed to be embedded in the cupboard was missing. So, we called him up and asked him if he is able to put a point inside the shelves. We also explained to him that we understand that the shelves and cabinets were done, so if its too difficult, just forget about this point. He simply said "put a mark on the cupboard on where you want the point, I'll fix it". The next day, when we came over, WOOLA, the point was there and most importantly, the point is working :)

Now that I've finished gushing about Edwin, let's start the reno journey of "Lights, shine lights"

Discussion Stage

We met up with Edwin, to discuss on the electric points around the house. HDB only provide 4 electric points in the whole kitchen. Sometimes, I question the mentality of those in charge of designing the flats. We've heard stories in other estates whereby there's a designing flaw in the windows, such that only 1 particular brand of aircon is small enough to pass through. I wonder if its a conspiracy, haha! Anyway, we've decided to add more points in the kitchen, to cater for future use. Edwin immediately whipped out his red marker and began taking notes on the wall.

Measuring the dimensions of the points, so he knows what materials to get.

Work in Progress
Fiddling with the main switch board.  When we arrived at the house 3 days later, majority of the wiring has been done.

The front door light point, which I've got him to shift it 3 times, haha! The hanging lamp took us quite a long while to search for it. I was on the verge of giving up our theme when we finally located the lamp in a lighting shop!

TV console & living room light points.

Adding more switches, to cater for fan & lights in living/dining area.

Switches for the kitchen/service yard, concealed under the beam that we constructed.

Shifting one of the original switch to another location.

WIW point, which I've also made him redo it twice, opps!

We changed to surface boxes in a corner of the kitchen, for Edwin said it would be a tedious process to use back the default flat panels provided by HDB. That would include taking out the surrounding tiles, putting the box inside the tiles and re-layering the tiles again. To save the hassle, we stick to surface boxes which is easier and less costly as well.

Baby Liam 1st Month Celebration

Another month has gone by in the blink of an eye. No more public holidays in September & the next PH is not till end October :( Will be jetting off to BKK in 2 days time, but before I leave, here's another post on a birthday celebration. This time round, it's Baby Liam's first month birthday :) He's the darling of my secondary school friend, Merisa & Hubby William.

Wore Cassidy Overlapping Top in Crimson Red (unreleased) and paired it with brown tie-side shorts :)

The place was decorated & there were props provided to take pictures as well! I didn't manage to take a picture with the props, cuz I had to run errands in the morning and was pretty late by the time I arrived.

Baby Liam was sleeping when I arrived. Doesn't he look adorable? He is a premature baby, but has since caught up with the expected weight. Love his chubby checks :)

Sleeping soundly in my arms. He's such an angel.

With Mummy Merisa! She was beaming with joy and there are plans for BB2, haha! Mer is really enjoying the happiness of a new mummy.

Penning down my wishes for Baby Liam. It came in a specially designed card made by Mer's talented sisters. I have to say the whole family is blessed with great designing talents. Mer is very gifted in designing and drawing during our secondary school days, always impressing us with her art and craft.

Just when I was about to leave, Baby Liam woke up from his sleep. Aw, so cute! >.<
