Day out @ Bugis

It's official! The DHL Balloon will end its stint in Singapore this Aug. Armed with a free coupon that entitled us to a free ride, Blamer and me decided to take our first ever balloon ride.

However, the weather forecast was too windy to take flight and we were asked to come back later, so off to lunch we go!

We are still on our hawker treats quest, hence here's another of those tasty recommendation - 结霜桥laksa!

Look at the banners and newspapers cuttings and u know this is a "can-make-it" stall located near the depot where ppl take taxis and buses to Malaysia. For the exact address, contact Blamer 'cos I think by now, all of u know I'm hopeless with directions, wa ha ha ha!

Tada, the laksa! Usually comes with big fresh clams, but this is Blamer's bowl, hence no clams.

And as all good laksa stalls out there, mackerel fish otah to go along with the laksa.

Blamer happily goofing down her laksa.

And then, we were back after lunch. However, the conditions were still not right for take off and we were turned away once again.

This time, we decided not to wander too far b'cos it was getting late and if we missed it this time, the free coupon will expire next week. Hence, it was time for a light snack at... ...

If I remember correctly, this is the flagship store of the famous apple strudel.

Our cosy seats.

The selection of strudels. They have apple (of cos), strawberry, mango and durian. Blamer order the strawberry and me, the durian (of cos much objection came from Blamer but dun care, hee hee)

Strawberry Strudel

Durian Strudel

Us enjoying our desserts.

We got turned away (for the 3rd time) due to bad weather, so guys, if u do decide to come catch the balloon for the last time, call them up to check first so that u won't be disappointed.

No ride? Den it's cam-whore time...

At least, we managed to take a photo with the balloon today. Dinner time next... ...

Ha ha, u guessed it, hawker centre time again. This time, we arrived at Maxwell food centre for their famous 金华 fish bee hoon.

The "white" version

The "fried" or "black" version.

This hand-made tofu came from the 和记粥 stall costing a $3.50 per piece. But it was nothing really special, just fried tofu. Felt cheated. sign*

Ha ha, and all the above are snacks that Blamer "da bao" for her parents. Trying to act filial siah... keke.

On Course 26-28 May 2008

Yeah, was on course for three days last week. (Blamer must have missed me badly) The number one good thing about being on course is ... ... u GUESS it! Early ciao time! 5.00pm sharp and the trainer says, that's all for today. Wow! Just loved it.

More time after work = more shopping time, especially with the Great Singapore Sale already started. But strangely, is it just me or do u guys feel that nowadays, there ain't much to buy? Or should I say these days, things dun look like they are worth the price tag. Anywayz, up till now, I have yet to part with my $$ for anything from the GSS, wonder is it b'cos I am too "salty".

Day 1 after Course

These days, Blamer and me have this craving for cheap and tasty hawker food, and for the last couple of dates, we have been eating out at hawker centres. (Inflation must be hitting both of us quite badly) After my first day of course, we headed to Tiong Bahru to seek out tasty hawker treats.

This shop serves pretty good sambal stingray and other great shellfish like "la-la" and "gong-gong" and "zuk-zuk", but there's only the two of us, hence we just ordered the stingray and "la-la".

Stingray

La-La

Wow the chilli is simply great on both dishes, will leve u craving for more. On top of these, whenever u visit hawker centre with bbq chicken wings, always order them. Nowadays, with all the food courts and air-conditioned diners, it is really rare to find great tasting bbq chicken wings the old fashion way (i.e. not those bbq on electric ovens, but on good old charcoal)

Simply heavenly!

Day 2 after Course
Blamer decided to head for Raffles City today as she caught news that kate-spade is having some sort of sale. They are "sale-ing" yes, but too bad, except for the bag that she's been eyeing. Also we calculated the discounted price of some of the other items, they were not as cheap as compared with getting them directly in the US. Hence we discarded the idea of buying the bags (phew lucky me...) and headed out to do wat I like best, EAT!

We were walking around the basement till we came across this:

Quite a bargain no? Decided to check it out.

Pretty nice table decor and Blamer just can't resist taking a pic with the flowers.

And that's me so slack in polo T and jeans, I love to be on course!

Like wat u read earlier on the signboard, 1-for-1 main course for any 2 drinks ordered, hence our 2 drinks:

I think the one on the left is "Orange Spice" (Blamer's) while the other is called "Lemon Blast" (Mine) Cost $4.80 each, ok only. Ordered them only b'cos we wanted the free main. Ha ha. (Shit, think we are getting more cheapo)

Mine! Spicy seafood spaghetti goreng. Really nice this one, with succulent prawns and juicy mussels. Worth every penny, by the way it's not very expensive at $15.80.

This is Blamer's fish and chips, which is also on the chef's recommendation list, the tangy chilli sauce on the left is quite unique, but I still like my spaghetti better.

Day 3 after Course

Din meet up with Blamer, hence no post. Gosh! No Blamer = no life for me??? Blamer see, 我对你这么好!

A Day @ Keith's Place

Went over to Keith's place one bloody hot afternoon... and it's a 1.15 hr ride on the MRT to his place - yes, we're having loonnnngggg distance relationship in TINY singapore, haha.

21 stops in total, excluding Woodleigh ....

Newly-opened shop near my place, the PIE KIA shop. Interesting shop that sells delicious pies - loonnngggg queue for the freshly baked pies. If you missed the batch, you will have to wait for @ least 10-15 mins for the next batch out from the oven.

Bought the mango & pear, sweet corn, 2 X sardine (my fave!), roast chicken, black pepper chicken & curry chicken. The cost ranges from $1.20 to $1.50, depending on the type of pie that you choose.

Look @ the crust, fluffy and yummy .... *drool*

The pies are just the side dish, went to buy QiJi nasi lemak to fill my tiny stomach, haha.... wanted to share with Leecher, but I was so hungry that I finished everything, opps.

Leecher stocked up on my fave drink - yes, I only drink YAKULT (not Vitagen) in grape flavour. Well, if I am in good mood, I might drink the orange & original ones as well, hahaaha.....

Hmm, feels so good to just NUA in this kind of hot weather .... oh, the snack that I am holding is nice! However, i have no idea where to get it :(

Shit, I think both of us are quite "chui" in this picture, wa ha ha :)

Red Bomb

During the first week of May, I received this:

A red bomb from a guy my age. Teng teng teng tengggg... We have proceeded to the next stage of life where one by one, girls around ur age start marrying themselves off, but to receive this so early from a guy...?

话说回来, to be able to find ur soul mate at such a young age is a blessing, no? I think I got mine too, but sometimes. . . . . . (Hee Hee)

The lucky couple

The ROM venue is at the club house at Villa Marina. Quite a posh setting. Very big swimming pool lehz. Too bad I only got a HDB, dun think will be able to live in a condo anytime soon : (

Gavin and me, no particular story behind this photo, post it only cos I think I looked not bad here. Ha ha...

Ok ok, ceremony proper ...

The Solemniser, reading out the vows and of cos added a few golden tips on marriage (is it due to the high divorce rate that Singapore is experiencing now??)

Exchange of vows...

Mini-champagne pouring...

事成! The bride holding their certificate, and like wat the Solemniser said, my fren has graduated and has now embarked on another great stage of his life!

This is their guest book, quite a neat idea cos they even invested in a Canon Selphy photo printer to print out pics of the guests such that they can sign their names against. Awesome.

Although I think Canon shld consider increasing the printing speed, I was the unofficial photo printer-man and man, had a hard time rushing out the photos.

Oh this is their wedding bear and ring holder.

The door gift-- sticks of honey... signifies their love as sweet as honey??? Hee hee...

Oh and since we are there, decided to make use of their props for some photo-whoring : )

And the balloons were major props, they filled out the whole room with it.

After all these, can u feel the pressure baby??
