First up! A sneak preview of HK day 2 activities :)
Woke up bright & early to embark on our 2nd day tour. We walked all the way from our guest-house @ Nathan Road to Saigon Street just to have our breakfast, all thanks to Leecher who researched on the web that this is one of the must-try porridge.
Finally reached the place after walking for 15 mins. Posing for pic outside the shop, haha. If this shop ever become famous cuz people patron it after seeing it on our blog, they better hire me as spokesperson
The interior of the place. Wa, really looks like a scene from the HK drama that I always watch.
Leecher immediately ordered the 皮蛋瘦肉粥 for himself and anyhow ordered 鱼粥 for me, knowing well that I dislike fish!
Trying to force myself to eat the porridge :( 皮蛋瘦肉粥 defintely tastes better, though Leecher commented that it reminds him of the porridge that Auntie used to cook for him when he got chicken pox. Haha, is that a sign that Leecher is home-sick and missing his Mum?
Having filled our tummy, we had to walk back to the tailor near our guest-house cuz Leecher wanted to tailor his clothes.
So we went to this place that Kaiwei recommended. This shop really enjoys good business. The crowd is never-ending.
Taking his measurements. Suddenly, a thought struck me - Leecher went to tailor his suit in his very FAT figure. Does that means that he will have to continue to maintain his "figure" such that he can fit into his tailored clothes? Gosh, that means he can no longer be slim and lean .... LOL
Time to start our day proper! Walked over to TST and take the MTR to our destination.
Haha, not much crowd, so happy. Got seats to sit & rest my tired legs.
Yeah, can you guess where we're going?
After 1/2 hr ride on the MTR, we reached Tung Chung. Yes, we're going to Ngong Ping 360 and not Disneyland :PYeah, can you guess where we're going?
Our 自拍 pic with the Ngong Ping 360 sign. Aiyah, Leecher's fat arm has to spoil the picture.
Walking to the cable car station. In fact, there were buses that will bring you to Ngong Ping too. However, the cable car ride took almost 1/2hr per way, which makes me wonder how long will the bus journey take.
Oh ya, the sun is shining brightly. It seems that the air around this part of the island is much better compared to the city.
Cable-car! Their designs are more cheerful compared to our Sentosa cable-car. In fact, I think its much newer and cleaner too. The ushers will disinfect the cable-car cabin after every ride, when the cabin checks into the station. I don't see that in SG.
The ride was quite "scary" if you're afraid of heights. Though the cable car's speed was quite slow, when it traveled up and down the cable @ a certain altitude, I still felt uneasy.
Nevertheless, the scenery made up for it and it was pretty windy throughout the whole ride.
Initially, Leecher & me sat on opposite sides of the cable car, cuz silly me thought that we shld balance out the weight in the car so that it won't be lopsided & tilt towards one side.
A kind tourist offered to help us to take a picture, haha. So we're seated together again :)
We have arrived. Feeling super lucky that we brought our shades along, for it turns out to be a super hot day.
The Ngong Ping Tea House is set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens and provides demonstrations of traditional Chinese tea ceremonies, as well as a selection of fine teas and cakes. Leecher wanted to go in and sip tea and have his carrot head kena CHOPPED.
But I dragged him to Honeymoon Dessert instead. I researched on the net that this is another of the must-try dessert place :) Wa, even the name of the shop is so sweet.
Ordered the mango pancake & 杨枝柑露. Wa, delicious! Leecher said that the 杨枝柑露 is different from those we tried @ 阿秋甜品. The texture is smoother and it comes with beancurd instead of ice-cream.
See, Leecher taking revenge by apportioning a small bowl of the 杨枝柑露 for me while he gobbled up the rest.
And we got "married" right here @ Ngong Ping Village, LOL.
We paid HKD$46 bucks for a vegetarian meal + entry to the exhibits of the Tian Tan Buddha
We paid HKD$46 bucks for a vegetarian meal + entry to the exhibits of the Tian Tan Buddha
We were all smiles and full of energy before we embarked on our stairs-climbing journey to reach the top.
Got another tourist to take picture for us. This time, only can see the lotus in which the Buddha is sitting.... haiz. Don't people know how to take proper picture?
Finally, I can see the Buddha @ the background. @ least this tourist has got common sense, haha.
The long way down.Well, you must endure a bit of hardship if you really want to pray to the Buddha, maybe that's why there are no escalators built here.
These pictures resemble the ones we took in Taiwan, where we visited the 大中至正 gate @ C.K.S Memorial Hall .
*Drum roll* I officially declare that this is the best meal I had in HK up till now! Serious! Even Leecher said the same thing. To think that all the delicacies in HK can't even beat this simple vegetarian meal.
Leecher took this random pic of me and the mountain, to indicate that I am like mountain tortoise. Really meh? I really mountain tortoise meh?
After a hearty meal, it's time to go to Wisdom Path. The signboard reads "Wisdom Path (15 mins)" .....
However, the banner beside the signboard says ''10 mins by walk''. Which one to believe? *confused* After walking the path, it's neither 10 or 15 mins - it's a freaking 25 mins! So that is what it means: 10 + 15 = 25 .... ^_^
Leecher trying to see if he will get wiser as he walks along the path leading to the wisdom path ...
The Wisdom Path features an arrangement of 38 giant wood columns measuring 8-10 metres long and 1 metre wide to showcase the calligraphy.
Resting my tired legs from all the walking. I never walked so far all my life (just joking)
Leecher trying to act like some 武林大侠 practicing his 武功 in the mountains, LAME leh...His cheeky smile has already given him away lo ...
Walking around the columns, trying to understand the hidden meaning of the wordings. Too chim for my understanding though...I don't have that much ink in my body, neither does Leecher.
Leecher went to touch the columns, but strangely, apart from the "wooden" look at the back, the front doesn't feel like wood. Felt more like concrete though.
That asshole Leecher purposely took the character ''碍'' with me in the picture. He still cheekily ask me if I know what does this implies.
We didn't managed to hike the trail to another spot due to time constraint & lack of proper footwear. So, pictures to prove that we were here before :P
Time to head back to the cable-car station. Leecher can't wait to start his shopping (thought I should be the excited one?)
I reckon this is the largest ESPRIT outlet in the whole of Hong Kong. We spent close to 1.5 hrs inside this shop alone.
It's time for MacDonald's! They have the new McRib, so we bought a set to try. It tastes like pork with BBQ sauce.
Leecher showing off his "purchase" - the 6L water which have to last us for the next 4 days.
Me, with Leecher's purchases! Only 5 tops are mine while the rest are his. Gosh, I nv knew that Leecher is a much avid shopper than me.
Feeling $X poorer (that Leecher had the cheek to "eat" into my funds), we have to head back to TST to dump our stuff in the guest-house.
Lai King - where we will settle our dinner & some sight-seeing along the way.
I was told that there is a nice roadside stall that sells curry fishballs. Walked through the whole stretch of Women & Temple Street, in search of the fishballs. However, only managed to get it @ this shop.
It turns out that there is a similar stall that sells the same stuff near our guest-house! Wasted my time, %$&$&$
Simple Wanton mee, but the wantons are very nice! It contains a whole shrimp instead of just meat.
Popped by the desserts stall next door to pack some desserts back. I was too tired and just wanted to go back to rest.
