This little cafe is located within CBD area, next to the famous Ocean
Curry Fish Head. I have to admit that I've walked past this place many
times, but never once stepping foot into it.
The
name "Sprmkrt" is derived from "Supermarket" without the vowels. The
owners aimed to re-define the local supermarket experience, by combining
the joy of food, retail and art in a single place.
Same height, even though BFF was sitting down, lol!

Drinks came first. Ice lemonade & fresh ginger honey ($5 each) to quench our thirst. Adding ice will cost an additional 50 cents.
Homemade Battered Onion Rings ($6) for sharing. This was a tad oily but it was executed good enough for us to forget about the grease and indulge in it.
No, this is not our business venture, lol!
Always great fun to hang out with good company :)
The shopping racks filled with bottles of condiments, baking utensils, food for you purchase.
Not forgetting fresh produce to whip up that delicious meal.
We were the only ones in this lil cafe, so I had to luxury to go round taking pics of their various corners w/o the feeling of people staring down your back :)
Art pieces decorated the wall, taken by Akai Chew. I did a little snooping on Google and found his website here. Being a graduate of SP (in Architecture), he has a special interest in capturing the beauty of buildings. Some of these buildings are in Singapore & I certainly had a hard time identifying them.
The concept of ordering in Sprmkrt is simple: look through the menu listed on the walls, order at the counter & wait for your food to be served.
There are 2 types of menu available - the ala carte menu OR the daily special menu (from Mon till Sat).
Fancy some snacks?

Grilled Seafood & Bacon Risotto with squid ink & garlic cream ($26). First look impression: ordinary. Leecher almost regretted his choice, for he was debating earlier b/w the beef burger & riscotto. However, the moment he pick up his spoon and shoved a mouthful into his mouth, he exclaimed "Wow".
Eggs Benedict served with two poached eggs, honey baked ham, hollandaise sauce, lightly buttered crumpets ($14). I just had to add in my fave smoked salmon ($4) to complete the set. I like that they served the eggs on crumpet. They were chewy & you can smell the fragrance of butter, just like McMuffins!
Grilled Brioche Angus Beef Burger - 200g house made Angus Beef patty, bacon, pan-fried egg, tomato, lettuce, button mushrooms, emmental cheese and bbq sauce served with shoestring fries ($24). Even though this seemed to be extremely value-for-money (look at the amount of food piled on the plate!), the patty was slightly disappointing for it was salty and falls into pieces easily.

On 2nd thoughts, if Leecher continues to work hard on honing his culinary skills, who knows?
We ordered these desserts earlier on & requested to be served later.
Orange Chocolate Tart ($9) - this was rich and extremely chocolatey. BFF had to risk facing a breakout to taste this. On the other hand, Red Bean Vanilla Chiffon Cake ($6) was light and fluffy, almost like eating air! Decorated with red-bean frosting, this will leave you asking for more, for you won't feel satisfied with just a single slice.
