KL Work Trip, Dec 2012: Day Trip to KL

P1015897 copy
My perseverance finally paid off - for I'm now composing the last entry for 2012 work trips! Hooray to clearing another folder :) I went on a day trip to KL, meeting up with prospective clients for a quick catch up before they all head for their holidays. Dec is always a quiet period (in office) where out of 10 emails sent out, you will receive at least 6 out-of-office replies. Thus, I had to confirm schedule with my clients before I proceeded to book tickets for the trip.

I headed to the airport early morning to catch the 7am flight, which surprisingly was a full flight. Instead of passengers heading for holidays, I saw quite a lot of passengers dressed in their business/corporate attire on board. We were all busy typing on our laptops whenever we can #lastminpreparation, lol!

Xmas period, my fave! (Psst ... mental countdown to another 6 months of Xmas this year)

Anyway, I flew Silk Air to KL, as I had to get into town early morning to meet the clients. My 2nd time traveling Silk Air and it felt like an upgraded version of budget airlines. My usual routine - read the papers to catch up on the latest headlines first, then off to lala-land when the plane starts taxiing and wake up during touch-down. This time round, I was busy preparing for some materials for clients' meeting, so I spent whenever I can typing on the laptop instead.

Upon landing, I immediately hopped onto a cab and headed straight to client's place. I had a late breakfast/early lunch at Starbucks, just below my client's office - needed the energy before the start of a long day. I even got 10% discount off for being a "staff", lol!

A couple of hours, I was back at the airport ready for my flight home. Before that, I needed some comfort food & the best place for junk food - McDonald's! McDonald's french fries and corn cup are my comfort food.

I decided to walk around the main terminal instead of heading to my usual spot for "debrief" session.

Xmas decorations all over the airport. Now, I really feel like jetting off to winter wonderland for Xmas this year! Somehow, Christmas feels more magical when snow is in the picture :)

Dinner as soon as I landed in Singapore - this pretty much wrapped up my business travels in 2012 :) Mission accomplished!

KL Work Trip, Sep 2012: Madam Kwan & Shanghai 上海苏浙苑

IMG_3139 copy
TGIF! Can't believe Friday is here again - the last Friday of Feb before another month comes knocking at our doorstep. Before I head off for another busy weekend (celebrating Leecher's birthday!), here is the 2nd installment of KL Sep work trip, which I have almost forgotten till I saw the folder (on Desktop) staring at me, alongside with many other folders, haha! Since I started Feb with an entry on this trip (Part One), I thought I should end the month with the last entry on this trip :)

A large cup of tea as my morning perk-me-up, alongside with orange juice.IMG_3042IMG_3043
Loaded up on breakfast as I figured that I'll be stuck at client's place all the way till late afternoon. Suffered from hunger pangs attack in between but thankfully I brought along some energy bars to nibble on.
IMG_3055IMG_3056
Lunch at a local food court which looked pretty much like SG food court, with plenty of food choices for everyone.
IMG_3045

I had a mini wok of hokkien fried noodles (black) with chicken and chili - gosh, this was really yummy! Love cheap & good food :)

It was back to the hotel after a long day of work & I was mentally exhausted. Provided one-on-one training to over 20 users; felt like a broken recorder after a while having to repeat so many times.

A quick change of outfit later - well, just switching my skirt for jeans & heels for flats, it was time to head out for dinner!

Back to Pavilion again for dinner. Yes, I'm getting lazier (and perhaps boring) in my quest to travel to find tasty food, haha! I'll just look for the next best alternative nearby, since I'm just too tired to venture further than 100 steps.
IMG_3048
Acting all touristy :) My trusty Pus Pus ran out of juice (aka no batt) so I had to rely on backup aka Iphone 4S instead.
IMG_3071
After walking round the whole basement, I finally settled for Madam Kwan - well known for uniquely Malaysian dishes, from the signature Nasi Lemak to "wok" style hokkien mee.
IMG_3057IMG_3058
A quick glance at the menu, I was all set to order (^^)
IMG_3059IMG_3063
No brainer as to what I ordered, haha! Dived straight into one of their signatures - Nasi Lemak completed with a side dish of achar.
IMG_3068IMG_3069
Topped it up with dessert - a scope of chocolate ice cream sitting on top of shaved ice + corn.

After 2 nights staying in the hotel, it was time to head home. Before I board the flight home, I had lunch at Shanghai 上海苏浙苑, a leading Chinese restaurant that specializes in exquisite Shanghainese cuisine.

I was shown to a corner table and magazines swiftly arrived to keep me company as I waited for the dishes to be served.

Extremely bloated from lunch, I was all ready to head home!

KL Work Trip, Sep 2012: Arrival at JW Marriott Hotel & Dinner at Ding Tai Fung 鼎泰丰

P9192696 copy
Another week zoomed past without me knowing it ~ Work has been keeping me busy, but I'll make myself switch to off-work-mode once I stepped out from the office building. Can't believe that we are now in Feb! Since Feb is such a short month, I'm sure before I know it, March would have arrived :p The start of this year also means that there are some changes in my role - perhaps it could be a blessing in disguise :) Nevertheless, I'll still be clearing all the backlogs that I have accumulated thus far. KL is fast becoming my 2nd home, with countless trips made within the past 2 years. However, this trip is the only time where I stayed for 3D2N in KL for clients' projects.

Air traffic control tower. I learn a lot about aviation from Rinta, who joined the industry a couple of months back. Lucky her get to tour the various airports all over the world!

This is fast becoming the mandatory airport pic on the blog every time I travel :)
P9182609P9182614
It was rather cold in the airport (which explains the jacket) and I had to get a cup of hot tea to warm the body up. I was feeling tired, so I sat at my favourite seat and watched the planes instead. The warm sun rays that shone through the glass panels provided me with the warmth I need.

Since the toilet was empty ~ heehee!

Time to board the plane & I took a quick nap before landing in KL 50 mins later. I was traveling with my boss on this trip, but he only stayed on for 2 days while I extended another day to visit other clients. We checked into JW Marriott Hotel this time round.
 P9182655
Staying in Singapore, I'm so used to pressing l for ground floor. Many a times, I'll walk into the lift and press 1, only to realize that I made a mistake when the lift door opened on level 1, lol! If there were people in the lift, I'll walk out and pretended that I have reached the "right" floor, haha!

Nice to see a touch of green :)

Once again, I ended up with double single beds ~ is it so difficult to get a room with king sized bed?? It mostly happened to me in KL and across various hotels.
P9182636
Energy bar that I'll keep in my bag to give me the extra boost whenever I'm feeling hungry or couldn't afford the luxury for a sit-down meal.

In all my KL trips, I'll try to stay at a hotel that is walking distance to any shopping malls, to have access to food eateries. The plus point at staying at Marriott is that Pavilion is just across the street.
P9182665
We ended up having dinner at Ding Tai Fung at Boss's request, lol! I have the impression that the angmohs (at least those in my team) tend to associate Ding Tai Fung with good Chinese food.
P9182660
Whenever Crispy is in town, we'll bring him to Ding Tai Fung to satisfy his xiaolongbaos craving. A close contender is the colourful xiaolongbaos made famous by Paradise Dynasty. I'm craving for this as I'm typing this entry, lol!

The rest of the dishes that we ordered, which I personally find it saltier as compared to SG's version.
