2016, in a heartbeat!

Over the years, I have reduced my updates on social media. However, I won't miss the usual tradition of wrapping up the year with a simple post. I'm thankful for a pleasant year, be it at work or with family :)

I started the year with a self-imposed shopping ban for 3 months. Leecher was extremely supportive of this, especially when the wardrobe was filled to the brim and he complained that I was invading into his closet space. The first few weeks was extremely bad, I would spend my time surfing shopping websites and adding stuff to my cart. The urge to cart out was so strong that I muster a lot of will power to stop surfing online shops. Soon, time passed and the urge to shop got lesser and lesser. Before I know it, I have not bought anything for 6 months. Achievement unlocked! Well, I didn't go on a crazy shopping spree after that apart from getting the essentials for the house and stocking up on skincare stuff during our Korea trip.

Instead of our usual winter holidays, we opted to head back to Korea for autumn. Little bro also gave me my first ever birthday angpao, together with a ramen pot that he bought from Korea. My lil brother is all grown up now. He also made it a point to be at home whenever I head home for dinner, so we can have a family meal together and catch up. Thank you for that :)

We have also reached our 5th year of marriage. I'm thankful that you are always by my side, where our fave activity is hanging out in our comfy sofa watching K-drama. Well, I think I can see the side-effect on your waistline, so perhaps we should adopt a more active lifestyle in the new year?

Even though 3y has passed, I still miss baby bro a lot. I think of him from time to time and I still get teary whenever his name is mentioned. I love you, baby bro.

As we embrace a new year, here's wishing everyone a happy 2017!

While I'm missing

While I'm away from social media ....

1. My trusty 6y old laptop crashed under Leecher's merciless hands. Leecher gave his usual sheepish grin and expected me to clear up the mess. Haiz, the next couple of days was spent trying to troubleshoot and backing up the precious pictures and important documents. Not forgetting that I refused to speak to Leecher for causing the problem.

2. Reformatting the laptop. Thankfully, I was able to restore it to factory settings but the downside: I had to reinstall all the programs that I was using.

3. Organising the wardrobe, only to mess it up several weeks later.

4. Clearing the study room to make space for Leecher's workspace.

5. Busy with projects and work. Leaving the office at 8PM was the norm for several weeks.

6. Catching on the DOTS wave, re-watching and missing Korea all over again.

7. Being a guinea pig to Leecher's new experiments.

8. Weekly struggle to either (A) watch more K-drama/variety shows or (B) doing housework.

9. Went on a holiday with friends, where the only problem we had was thinking of what wine/food to drink/eat.

10. Perpetually thinking of my next holiday.

2015, in a heartbeat!

Year 2015 literally zoomed past. I remembered starting the year, counting down to the first weekend then to the first public holiday. Before I could even catch my breath, we have come to the last day of the year. Is it a sign on me growing old?

The usual tradition of wrapping up the year with a simple post. Even though I have disappeared significantly from the blog, but I'm trying to update as often as I can given the limited time I have. Work load has definitely increased, but I'm looking forward to maintaining work-life balance next year. I still miss baby bro terribly, but I'm thankful that he appeared in my dreams during Boxing day - exactly 2 years since he left us. I miss you, my little bro. Hope you're safe on the other side.

We also progressed to our 4th wedding anniversary - grateful to have you with me, though at times I really wanna pull your hair out. Dec is always my favourite time of the year - spent my birthday with a meal with my family before we jet off to Iceland-Amsterdam for 2 weeks of adventure. It was a wonderful road-trip with friends - a trip with many stories to tell :) I ended up with food poisoning on the flight back and was wheeled out of the plane, straight to the medical center, lol! What a way to end the trip. I was supposed to be on medical leave till next year but the workaholic me headed back to the office today to clear my bursting mailbox.

As we embrace the new year together, here's wishing everyone a blissful 2016!

Slightly Revamped

I sat in front of the computer today with the intention of putting my limited knowledge of HTML to test in revamping the blog. I gave up after 5 hours and only managed to add a new profile sidebar along with a new page menu. Well, I shall not be itchy fingers anymore in tweaking the blog, lol! Time to head to bed for a good night's rest.

Korean Dramas - 2009/2010/2011/2012/2013/2014 & counting!

Happy 2015 everyone! We have been pretty busy with gatherings ever since the new year, let me do a count:

1. 31-Dec: Countdown at EK's place
2. 1-Jan: Reached home at 3AM, nua at home the whole day
3. 2-Jan: Back to work, housewarming party @ Samuel & Angie
4. 3-Jan: Baby niece birthday shower
5: 4-Jan: Cousin's wedding

What an eventful week! My old body can't take such hectic lifestyle anymore, but I have a luncheon next Sunday, sob sob! Can't have a full weekend to nua, I miss being a couch potato!
Yes, that's me during weekend :) Just for fun, I decided to compile a list of K-dramas that I have watched (sorted according to year of release). It's quite a comprehensive list, I must say, given the amount of time I spent in front of the TV, heh! Some are pretty old shows that I have added in for completeness, but my rate of watching them accelerated since this entry.

Psst ... you can also click on KOREAN DRAMAS on the blog for the list of shows that I have watched/reveiwed :)

2014, in a heartbeat!

The usual tradition of wrapping up the year with a simple blog post. This year was a difficult year, as we went through the year without baby bro by our side. It was painful initially, but we survived together as a family. We also bid our farewell to Granddad, who passed away 4 months later in the comfort of his bed surrounded by his family. My mental health took a slight dip thereafter & I was really exhausted. It made me realize that life is indeed fragile. I always wish for the best for mummy dearest and lil bro; may they be healthy and happy. Wish baby bro is happy on the other side of life & please continue to appear frequently in my dreams!

3 years of marriage and I am thankful that we didn't tear each other apart, lol! Let's survive another year together, my love :) Marriage life is so enriching because I have you in my life!

As we embrace the new year together, here's wishing everyone a blissful 2015!

Busy Aug!

Have not been updating much on this space, for weekends are now more precious than ever :) I blame it on the lure of Apple TV for "sucking" up much of my time, haha! I promise to be back with more updates, but till then .....

I'm just going to pretend I'm on vacation :p

The aftermath of a long vacation

Honestly, I was extremely tired after the long vacation and spent the weekend at home. The only time I stepped out of the house was to visit my mum + in-laws to pass them the stuff that we bought from Finland. I can't believe how much chocolates I bought from this trip, such that my fridge is now filled to the brim, oops! I hope I have the energy to resume my usual blogging soon, but till then .... let me just get my life back in order heh.

Will be back soon

Apologies for the lack of update - we got back from Hong Kong a shade darker, tummies rounder & wallets empty, lol! Nevertheless, we had fun and it was really hard to be back to work on a rainy Tuesday morning. I promise to blog more to compensate for the absence that I took ... once I'm done with housework this weekend.

Meanwhile, take care everyone! keep warm in this gloomy weather :)

Still hanging on!

This week had to be one of the toughest week. Fret not, for I'm off to HK in a few hours time!
Have a good TGIF & weekend :)

This is soooo Leecher!

I just realised that this marked my 888th entry on this lil space & this is dedicated to the dearest hubby, Leecher :)

A couple of months back, we were invited to a sneak preview of Golf GTI at Volkswagen showroom in Macpherson. We bought our Jet at the Alexendar branch, so this was our 1st visit to Macpherson showroom. Jet was sent in for a complimentary car wash, much to Leecher's delight, haha!
Upon entering, we had to walk through a dimly-lit tunnel. The engine sound of the new GTI could be heard from the audio system, signalling that the car is powered up and ready to go!
The new Golf GTI, in full glory right in front of us. It was certainly to be the privileged few guests invited to see this car in Asia Pacific. There were 2 different colours on display - the white version & the chili red, as seen above. The colour turned out orangish in my pic due to the spot lights.
It was an intimate event with around 50 invited guests.
Want to make a guess what GTI stands for in Singapore?
Got Turbo Inside, LOL! Well, it actually means Grand Touring Injection & the first car to be marketed with this abbreviation was Maserati's 1961 3500 model.
Mr Steffen Schwarz, the Managing Director of VW Singapore giving us the opening speech. The Marketing department then walked us through some of the new programs that they have for existing clients & the marketing plans for the new GTI. Did anyone try out the fast lane in Vivocity?
Placement card of the table for guests to find their seat. We sat with the workshop & mechanics managers, together with 4 other guests. The interactive was very beneficial, for the managers provided us with lots of information & knowledge about the car.
Food was good as well! They had a make-shift kitchen where food was prepared on the spot for us. Being a small-scale buffet, I took a bit of every dish and was impressed by the quality of the food.
Our welcome gift, which we collected at the end of the event.

伴 / Companion

No doubt one of my fave songs :)

PSI 290

Got a shock when I turned on the TV and saw a PSI reading of 290. Gasp, if only my PSLE score is that high, I would have qualified for any school I want! On the other hand, I'm proud to say that my Candy Crush level is much higher than this, hah!

Taking a Break

I have been feeling jaded recently & I know that this has nothing to do with mid-life crisis. I kept feeling that time is not enough, constantly trying my best to finish the tasks that are given to me. In fact, I'm even updating this lil space of mine sometimes till the wee hours of the night. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed what I'm doing and thankful for all the things that had happened in my life. I wanted to do much more, but my body seemed to want to take things slow. Perhaps, it's time I give in to my inner pleas and take a break from my usual routine. If I don't update as often, you know what I'm up to :)

Air Tickets Stubs

I was clearing my travel box over the weekend and stumbled upon the air-ticket stubs collected over the period of 2012, where I travelled mostly for business. Yes, I have a travel box (one for personal & one for work) where I keep all sorts of stuff (like hotel room keys, tickets stub, matchboxes etc). Leecher often labelled me as garang guni - as I tend to keep stuffs, thinking that they will come in useful one day. Once in a blue moon, I'll develop this throwing-away-things-mood, only to make space for more things to come (it's a vicious cycle!)

Happy Wife, Happy Life

Source: ETSY

My boss has a saying "A happy wife is a happy life" .... and I've been trying to make this Leecher's motto in life :p
