Swensen

Friday night - time for feasting! Initally wanted to go to Big-O cafe, cuz Leecher got the 1-for-1 voucher, but it was only valid from Sunday to Thursday %&%$&$^$, so ended up, we changed to Swensen's since I happened to have vouchers, hahaa.

Been a while since I stepped into Swensen's - we went to the one @ Orchard Road, since sua ku me never been inside this restaurant before.

It was only 8pm and there was a loooonnngggg queue. We requested for a table for 2, and the waiter asked if we want indoors or outdoor. We beat everyone in the queue and went straight to the table, when we replied that either one is fine, hahaa. Clever move, since there are fans blowing around to keep the customers seated outside cool.

Leecher ordered the set meal that came with soup & drink. However, the soup was kinda plain, tasted like plain water.

The drink which tasted like cough syrup, yucks!

His main course - Princely Chicken. Eh, so-so only and the serving is kinda small

My free salmon & mushroom baked rice, that tasted like the chef accidentally overturned the whole packet of salt inside. Should have stick to the curry chicken baked rice instead.

Yes, our starter, crispy veggie mix. This dish actually came after we finished our mains and we had to ask the waiter, not once but thrice for this order.

I reckoned it was the nicest dish of the evening, cuz the fried mushroom tasted good until

I saw how much oil was left behind - spoilt my appetite immediately. I used to love Swensen's for the food and service during my JC and Uni days. However, it seemed like the standard have dropped significantly. Doubt that I will be heading back to the place anytime soon in the near future.

Went to Robinson's sale - NO GST! Leecher wanted to get a pair of working shoes, since his faithful pair of Pedro shoes were beyond repair, haha. Wa, he looked for 1/2 hr, got the salesgal to take 4 pairs of similar looking shoes for him to try, even more ma-fan than me leh.

Finally decided on a pair and we got a shot @ the lucky draw, hahaa. Hoping that the card will be $500 bucks worth of voucher ....

Our lucky number ....

Sian, no prize @ all - just thanking you for contributing to the balance sheet of Robinson, haha

On a separate note, Leecher stumbled upon this cute-looking cookie ...

wa ha ha, definitely made me a happier person :)

Bali Thai All-You-Can-Eat Buffet

It's time to take a break from sniffing out all the tasty hawker treats, today we decided to try out... ...

Actually, it was me who wanted to try this as Blamer with all the "entertaining of clients" have already tried the food here.

That's me browsing thru the menu and the first pic that caught my eye was... ...

Wow! Sumptuous, finger-licking good pic this was. But this set cost $40.00.

Versus the all u can eat ala carte buffet which cost $19.90 per head... ... I think the former has to wait for next time.

So while we were waiting... ...

Notice the plates decor in the background? Pretty nice actually, wonder if I can do something like this in my dining room next time.

Ha ha, the spread. Clockwise from top left: tahu telok, pineapple rice, beef curry and mango salad.

Clock wise from top left again: tomyam soup, fried pandan chicken, stir-fried baby kai lan and sambal kangkong

The left two pics were combination appetizers. Need to separate into two pics cos the plate was too looonnng. The right 2 pics were sweet and sour fish and sambal sotong.

Lastly, from top left: Stir-fried glass noodles, satay and Thai green curry.

What a spread!! By the end of the meal, both of us could barely lift our butts off the seats. Ha ha.

As we were walking out of the restaurant, I commented that Blamer seems to have put on some weight. As if to prove her point that she was still as slim as she claims... ...

She actually squeezed into a kiddy ride just outside the restaurant! faint*

Lunch with Xiao Qiang

Xiao Qiang, my lunch kaki @ work, haha .... (he will kill me when he reads this post and realised that I posted his picture, opps)

Hito Steamboat @ Far East Square

Walked quite a far journey to Far East Square for this Japanese Steamboat ...

Stupid us ordered the HOT green tea on a bloody hot afternoon where the temperature was 34 degrees celsius.

Finally, the food arrived .... starving and sweating under the hot weather. My crazy idea of having paper steamboat under the hot sun and drinking hot tea, hahaha. Quite an experience though, I should have captured the amt of tissue soaked in our sweat on the table :)

The salmon pot with spicy broth, yummy! Love the broth with a slight tinge of spiciness.

XiaoQiang's chicken pot - even the original broth is nice, awwwww ....

It only 1/2 way through the meal den I realised that we have the same restaurant @ Hitachi Towers, haha. However, when we went back to check-out the place, the restaurant was gone. 2 weeks later while walking past Far East Square, this restaurant was gone too .... hmm ..... sad, wonder where I can find this paper steamboat again ..

The Marmalade Pantry @ Hitachi Towers

One of my favourite restaurant @ the CDB area - yummy food and great desserts (accordingly to FMQ, hee .... always see her posting the cupcakes on her blog) I never tried the desserts though, cuz when I am done with the main course, it's time to call it a day - can't squeeze anything more :(

Once again, my partner in crime (aiyah, he shy and covered his face while I took the pic .... )

I always thought that the white flower (what's the exact name?) was fake until I took it out from the container and realised there's water inside, ^_^|||

Recommended one of my fave dish - linguini with crabmeat tomato chilli & pinenuts to XiaoQiang, since he had no idea what he wanna eat .... even the chef recommended this wo ~~

I ordered the grilled pesto chicken wholemeal wrap with oven roasted butternut. Love the chips @ the side, quite a refreshing change from the usual fries.

Of cuz must have a picture of me with my food :)

This time round, no desserts AGAIN :( maybe I shld just pop down to buy their cupcakes sometime ...

U Can Fly

Remember our previous post about the balloon ride? Ha ha, never say die! We are back again, and this time... ...

Whoppee! We got the tickets!!!

Close-up on the tickets. Hee hee...

Next will be a series of balloon flight photos so that u guys will have an idea how exciting it was...

Taking off... ...

Nearly the same height as the building... ...

Going beyond the building... ...

Lift off!!!

U CAN FLY!!!!!!

And once we were up there, photo time! Blamer looked calm and composed here, but dun be fooled. She was as timid as a mouse and was having wobbly legs the whole time up there.

Magnificent view!

Tried to 自拍 but the lighting was just too bad. Dun really know how to use the night mode properly on "Dent Dent" still.

And at last, a photo of me. After much persuading (to Blamer) that it is really safe to let go of the railings and snap a pic of me before the balloon touches down. (as u can see in the background, we were coming down to "building height" already)

Finally, touch down... ...

After the scary flight (for Blamer at least), it's time to grab some food! The famous Loh Kee duck rice stall located opposite Bugis Junction.

and of cos, when u come to Bugis, shld always drop by Ah Chew's desserts.
