Formula 1 weekend

The most anticipated F1 race is about to begin :)

And I have been given pass to attend, yeah! It's just the Friday practice session though, but nevertheless, it's still an experience.

Leecher couldn't tag along, so he can only 望梅止渴 and pose with my F1 pass, wa ha ha ....

We all had to change into our company's F1 T-shirt to support the event. Thank god I managed to get a Polo T of my size. Looks cool/sporty or not?

Elliott gave us the permission to knock off at 5 (hurray!) so that we can proceed to watch the race and kick off an exciting weekend. Proceeding to Gate 5 ...

Opps, took the wrong pic. Just pretend that it's pointing to Gate 5 :P

Crossing the bridge ....

Making the way there ...

People queuing up at the Ticketing Booth....not many people rite? I wasn't sure if you are able to purchase tickets on the spot, as I reckon most of the tickets should be been sold out. If so, what is this Ticketing booth for?

Gate 5!! We have reached ... this is the beginning of a fun-filled race

Leaving my footprints in front of the gate.

Wa, Andrew's very pro camera can capture a blur background cum clear foreground. 一分钱, 一分货. I think the price of his camera is almost 2 times more than dent dent, hahaa ....

Oh, that is the very pro camera with its very fit owner. Look at the fit-fit muscles of his arms ... WA!

Some pics before we embarked on our F1 journey ... pity we couldn't get a Team picture :(

Passing through the security check and its time to rock & roll!

First up, to Empress Place for some action. It's the nearest "viewing" platform from gate 5.

On top the viewing platform ... waving my pass for the event

Grabbed Rinta to take a picture with me, hahaha ...

First glimpse of the track :)

Yeah, got cars zooming pass ... but they're not the F1 cars though, chey. Waste my time to capture the pics, duh.

The marshals waving the red flag, which means that the session has been stopped, usually due to an accident or poor track conditions.

and the safety car is out. Thus, no more action till 7pm :(

Little did we realize that we're actually standing at the wheelchair accessible platform, opps. Time to move on to another destination :)

Esplanade Park to soak in the atmosphere of the carnival

Feels like a freaking tourist taking this pic, haha.

Lots of ancient-looking cars on display. Heng I nv show this collection to my mum, if not ... Singapore Pools will be quite happy to welcome her "donations", hahaha ...

Wa, they even install ATM and money changer counter for this event?

The official merchandise that you can bring home to "commemorate" the event. That is, if you're willing to pay for this, haha. Heng Leecher turned down the offer of me buying a Ferrari Polo T-shirt, if not, my pocket will kena a big hole, wa ha ha ....

Lots of spectators loitering around the area - eating, drinking and merry-making :)

Huge signs for the direction-less people (hmm, reminds me of someone though, >_< ) The huge Padang area that have been transformed into a carnival: with stalls selling drinks & food, huge TV that broadcast the race and a party area, courtesy of ZOUK.

Artificial overhead bridge that allows the spectators to cross from one destination/stop to another. Cool leh ~

Another pic to leave our footprints in front of the grandstand :)

Finally reached the Padang Grandstand (ie: that will be where we're watching the race!!) Wa, look at how high the grandstand is, machiam like watching NDP like that.

Rinta with her ear plugs; which you definitely need it if you don't want your ears to go deaf.

Our seats are located at Padang Grandstand B, sector B10 and B11.

Andrew walking up the grandstand .....

while I am still waiting to pose for this pic :P

Wa, Elliott and Eric got there way before us and they even finished their drinks. Relaxing leh ~

Not many spectators yet ~ the night is still young ....

Cam-whore while waiting for the race to start; first up: Eric and Andrew

Next: Elliott, but he not looking at the camera, heehee..

Third: the FENICS support/acc team
Lastly: Me! Me! Me!

Finally! we stopped the F1 cars, woohoo! This is the moment whereby you will see all the professional cameras being used. Dent dent feels so inferior as compared to them, sob sob.

The sky is also turning dark, whereby you can see the skyline of SG in full glory

With me posing for the pic, of cuz, hahahaa :P

Ok, being a F1 noob, I know nut-shit about the drivers/the helmets they wear. Luckily, we have a F1 expert sitting behind us to tell us how to differentiate b/w the various drivers.

Somehow, the focus is always on ....

Lewis Hamilton with his Yellow Johnny Walker helmet. Wa, Andrew's very pro camera managed to capture this pretty clear pic of the car, while dent dent's version

Eh, ok lah, can see there is a slight yellowish spot to signify that it's Lewis inside, LOL.

See, the seats are slowly being filled up as more and more people are coming to watch the race.

Here's the live video of the cars zooming pass the grandstand

Natasha came later cuz she was coped up with work.

And she can't wait to eat the chips!

Oh, that's the grandstand in which we watched the event.

Eeehhhh, where have all the people gone to?

It's time to party/find food during the interval! Food, I need food!

The chicken wings & fried carrot cake are pretty nice! Yummy!

Raising the Ferrari flag in the hope that they will win, but 世事难预料. From pole position till last, but at least, they did provide lots of entertainment for this race.

Bumped into a fren/client!

Nice view of the Singapore flyer, which I haven been on-board till date :(

Performances around the padang and esplanade area.

The empty track once the session is over. Lots of people did the king/queen of the road thingy which Leecher & I did earlier, haha.

The day after ........

Leecher & I went back to the office to research on our HK trip as well as to watch the F1 from high above ;)

The view from the office, quite nice hor? Day view...

Night view ...
Yeah, can watch in the comfort of the office with aircon!

Leecher trying to act pro using the binoculars.

Oh, the cars coming out! Like toy cars leh ... haha, can't even tell which is which.

The circuit being lit-up at night. Can't wait for the next Grand Prix! See ya in 2009 :)

Prelude to F1

This is quite a be-lated post, all thanks to Blamer for hoarding onto the photos. The biggest sporting event in Singapore this year-- F1 Grand Prix in Singapore!!!

Blamer wanted to recce the circuit before the actual event, hence here's us pretending like tourists to check out the circuit.

When we were walking to esplanade from Blamer's office, we chance upon the Williams team moving their machine to the track.

Now this is really a close up look at the mean machine.

Moving closer to the esplanade, we spotted the empty ticketing booth.

The signs to direct the tourists on the actual day.

So where should we go???

We were not even there yet, but Blamer was captivated by the scenery behind and insisted that we take a pic first. Notice all the lamp posts on the flyover. Those are part of the track too.

By the way, the signs were really big, here's a pic with Blamer as the scale for comparison. Hee hee.

Finally, we reached the track. Notice the sky has darken. Quite a long walk from Blamer's office actually. Nevertheless, Blamer was really happy to be able to stand in the middle of the road like queen like tat.

So I must experience the "King of the road" feeling too right?

King and Queen... (A helpful tourist using the same camera model as us took this pic for us, so 巧)

Nice skyline at the back right? But I think the drivers won't really have the time to enjoy all these views.

A pic of the grand stand and the barricade

NOooo! Dun separate Blamer and me : (

Finally reached the Marina grand stand i.e FOOD!

All I got for accompanying Blamer on such a long walk.

三人行

Yaozu jio-ed us for dinner after work on a weekday. Normally, I won't entertain such last minute date but since this came from Yaozu, 我就破例一次, haha. See, Yaozu, 你有多大的魅力!

After 15 minutes of discussion, we finally embarked to Raffles City for Out-of-the-Pan.

Located in the middle of the fountain, this is quite a popular place to dine in, especially when you don't mind people looking at you while they are going up/down the escalator. To quote from Yaozu "我不习惯有那么多人盯着我吃饭."

Once again, it's time to cam-whore while waiting for the food.

Take 1: Yaozu nv smile leh ... don't like to take pics with me is it? >_<
Take 2: That's better, haa....

And it seems like Leecher got "jealous" .....

不爽? 生气?

Ok la, take picture with my dear Leecher. He is all smiley again :)

This restaurant is famous for their crepes, which personally I love the peking duck. The crepes are quite light, yet sufficient to fill your stomach.

Both Leecher and me went for the chef recommendation. I ordered Beef & Bell pepper crepe (above) while Leecher took the seafood jungle (below)

Meanwhile, Yaozu decided to be different and opt for the Nowegian salmon :P

Leecher ordered the kampong chicken as starter. Tastes very much like satay though.

Time to dig in *attack*

Lastly, ended the night with fruity cheese, slice of cheese cake toppled with strawberries. Great food and good company = hearty meal!

Founder Bak Kut Teh

One lazy evening, mummy feeling lazy, decided not to cook dinner. Hence it's eating out again.

This time we decided to source out some authentic local cuisine like this Founder Bak Kut Teh.

Just look at the queue. We were not even near to the doorstep of the shop. The Bak Kut must be good.

Decided to cam-whore while waiting for our turn.

Roger and Xiufeng provided the transport. As you can see, the shop is located at the roadside, like those Geylang area, not really accessible if u take public.

Apparently, Roger got tired of waiting... ...

Finally, we got into the shop and wow! All the walls are plastered with photos of celebrities with the owner. Local and foreign stars alike. Some of the more famous ones like Taiwan girl band S.H.E and Energy. Even the famous Director Lee Ann tasted their Bak Kut Teh!

I couldn't wait for the food to come after standing in the queue for so long.

Blamer was so happy when her rice came.

The famous Bak Kut Teh. Quite peppery, but I think the Song Fa's version tasted better.

Other condiments to go with the soup includes 油条

Braised groundnuts

Preserved vege.

Pig's innards soup

Beancurd skin

And pig's trotter! Blamer's favourite. (always wonder how someone who like eating 猪脚 can remain so thin)

What a spread!

No time to talk le, ATTACK!
