BKK Trip with Leecher Nov 2012 P6

** Previous entries for this trip: P1, P2, P3, P4, P5

Riding on the recent cafe craze that I'm going through, we went looking for a nice cafe in BKK for brunch. There were tons of cafes in BKK & hunting down the right one wasn't easy. So, based on recommendations, we went to Roast Cafe, which was listed as the must-visit place.

Getting to Roast Cafe was relatively easy, but it consisted of an approx 15-20 min walk from the BTS Station, Thong Lor. I've managed to google for a map of the station for those of you who would like to visit this must-go place when in BKK for a lazy afternoon brunch.
Alight at Thong Lor station, head towards exit 3 and walk along Soi Sukhumvit 55. Don't cross the road, for the odd-numbered Sois will be on the left with the even-numbered Sois on the right.  Stay along the main road. Along the road, you will see TMB Bank and Pan Pacific Suites apartment, so you know you are on the right track. Turn left at Soi 13 and walk straight.

The place was relatively packed when we arrived at 3pm for brunch. Haha, yes, we are very late in having brunches, but hey, this place serves brunches till 5pm before switching to dinner menu.

I love this cafe as soon as I stepped foot inside. It felt so cozy and everything looked so appealing!

I've a soft spot for cafes like this :) We managed to get an indoor seating, hurray!

Their menu comes in the form of a newsletter, with some articles to read in b/w.

Already decided what I'll be having.

Check out the crowd - patrons with families, friends or alone with their laptops.

Almost every table was filled, so service was abit slow but you can feel their apologetic tone when they finally came to your table.

 Leecher playing with DOF again.

His turn to be photographed, haha! He had no idea that there were glass bottles hanging down from the ceiling till he saw the pictures. Aiyoh, not attentive at all.

My drink (Ice Lemon Strawberry tea) which came with a pleasant surprise - filled with love :)

Coffee for the man, which he said was pretty refreshing. He was even tempted to buy the coffee beans back!

Food, come quickly!

Crab Cake Egg Benedict, which was one of their top sellers.

Leecher & his cheap thrill of runny yolks.

Salmon crudo with dill & capers and mini Rosti - their all time fave! Must order when you're there, worth every single THB paid, which btw costs THB320 for this dish.

 Nice touch :)

Food served was really finger-licking good, puts some of the cafe in SG to shame! I was all praises for this place when I came back to SG and introduced it to BFF.

Change of cutlery - that shows more items coming!

I was drinking halfway when I realised that the ice cubes were actually tea cubes.
Lazing our time in this cafe :)

Leecher trying to act cool, but ended up laughing out loud.

The must-order Strawberry Waffles (another of their signatures!) which comes with fresh strawberries, cream and vanilla (bean) ice cream. I would strongly suggest to order this first and ask to serve later.

Finished with desserts and flipping through the menu for more, haha! *what a glutton*

Roast is also the winner of the national barsita championship in 2012, so definitely worth a visit. I'm not a coffee-drinker, but I love looking at the various artwork in the coffee cup! Give me a heart anytime and I'll definitely melt, haha.

Mr (busy) Leecher playing games on his phone.

And so, we sat from late noon till evening time, watching the crowd passing by.

Another change of utensils, heehee!

Buns served warm, with butter at the side.

Dinner items starts from 5-ish onwards. I was gamed to try their dinner menu, but we decided to order something light to share instead of going for mains.

We polished off everything on the platter!

I was feeling sad when we had to leave the place *sob sob*

Off to get some more Naraya @ Central World.

Twilight, yet again.

Only Edward is my fave character, so I decided to block the not-relevant faces, haha!

Guess after this saga is over, I won't be seeing much of Edward anymore :(

1st Wedding Anniversary

Having a blog lets me pen down my happy memories. Recently, I've been clicking on my past entries and reading them now brings a very different experience, as compared to when the entries were first penned. Perhaps, it is part and parcel of growing up - a phrase that we all have to go through. No wonder they say change is the only constant in life :) Been updating this blog quite frequently since the beginning of the year, a mixture of backlogs and recent events. Months seemed to zoom past at an accelerated speed!

And so, we celebrated our 1st year wedding anniversary in end-Oct. Thanks to everyone who left us well-wishes on Facebook, haha! Didn't expect my entry to gather so much response ... Leecher even had his colleagues calling him in office wishing him Happy Anniversary, haha! Presents and flowers are no longer in the "compulsory list" when you sign on the dotted line *sad fact of life* It will be considered a bonus if you receive it. Nevertheless, Leecher made a reservation for a dinner @ Esplanade.

Walked from the office to the esplanade :)

Different art exhibitions will be on display @ the Concourse, where visitors will get a different surprise everytime they step into Esplanade.

As we were pretty early for our dinner appointment (got off work on-time!), we sat by the Concourse listening to live music. A series of free indoor performances is available at the Concourse every evening, which showcased talented amateur, semi-pro and pro artists from SG and around the world.

Love is in the air

#ootd that was purposed to be on instagram, but my phone wasn't getting reception, so I gave up after a while. Something is really wrong with M1 nowadays.

Pretty empty for a weekday.

Guess where we're heading?

Mirchi - Taste of India. Haha, surprised that we choose an Indian place for 1st wedding anni dinner? Totally not-romantic right, haha!

1st to arrive even though we really took our own sweet time!

Mirchi - taste of India. Took this while inside the restaurant.

Hoping that other diners will appear soon, for I dont like dining in an empty restaurant.
Started with Prawn Shorba soup, Chicken Tikka & Vegetables Samosa. I was tickled when I saw the plate of round samosas, for I was always under the impression that samosas should be triangular.

We had saffron-flavoured basmatic rice & a basket of assorted baked naans to go alongside with the main dishes.

Butter Chicken - my fave of the lot! Boneless chicken simmered in rich creamy tomato gravy.

Goan Fish Curry.

Aloo Gobhi - potato & cauliflower florets tossed with ginger, garlic and indian spices.

Spicy yoghurt mixed with chopped cucumber & onion.

Kadhai Paneer - fresh cottage cheese cubes, capsicum and tomatoes cooked in thick onion gravy.

Table full of food! We were extremely full after this meal - Leecher's shirt was threatening to burst, like the incredible HULK, haha!

Halfway through the meal, Mummy dearest sent  Leecher an SMS wishing us "Happy Anniversary" .... How come I nv receive the message? boohoo!

Ended the night with Galub Jamun, which is a popular Indian dessert, very common at weddings. How apt to have this on our 1st wedding anniversary :)

Thank you Leecher  Dearie!
