Xmas Shopping

Finally have time to sit down & blogged as we took a break from reno due to CNY season. We celebrated Xmas followed by New Year and soon, its time for CNY! I was pretty ill for the Xmas season, but fortunately, Xmas celebrations started early for me :) Headed down to Orchard to get some Xmas shopping done, wore my trusty flats!

Thankfully I wore my flats that day cuz I walked b/w ION and Taka almost 4 times, just to hunt for Leecher's shoes & not forgetting an impromptu call to MinQian to borrow her Taka card - thanks FMQ!

Before we start shopping proper, time to feed the hungry man.

Flipping through the menu.

Leecher was so hungry that he couldn't have the energy to pose for the camera.

Excited @ shopping later - it will be even better if Leecher were to suddenly take out his credit card and pay for my purchases (which DIDN'T happen, so sad)

Leecher ordered Black Pepper Crab Pasta while I had Chicken Portobello Kumara. In the end, we decided to swop dishes cuz we actually preferred what the other party ordered.

Before we start shopping proper, must hug Leecher tight tight so he will make my wish come true, LOL

The iconic bear Xmas tree in Taka! It's also a tradition for us to take pic at the spot whenever we finished our Xmas shopping in Taka. This year, they displayed the pink bears & changed the paper bags to a dark pink shade. So girly! And yes, that shopping bag belongs to Leecher & Leecher only while I ended up with nothing :(

The lovely Xmas lighting along Orchard road. Love the blue section the most & here's the reason why

The magical robin-blue box! Who can ever resist this?

Disappointing shopping trip & I had to drag Leecher to my comfort place

Japan Day 10 P2

To continue from where Leecher left off, we headed over to Ginza (銀座) for shopping!

No no, we didn't take the Metro & walked from Tsukiji Fish Market.

The famous Wako building with the now-iconic Hattori Clock Tower. The building and clock tower were originally built by Kinataro Hattori, founder of Seiko.

Can't wait to start my day in Ginza!

Leecher was feeling upset as he couldn't get his morning cup of caffeine, as we were there at 8.30am! Well, we forgot that we were up pretty early for the fish market and didn't realise that it was that early when we reached Ginza. Most of the stores opened at 9.30am during weekends. Thus, we had to loiter on the streets for 1hr while my poor ears suffered from Leecher's constant rumblings.

As we roamed the streets, we came across this sight ~ hmm.....what's going on?

Long queue before the store is open? According to the dummy's guide, this meant that we have to join in the queue!

Baumkuchen, known as the "King of Cakes", is a kind of layered cake known in many countries throughout Europe. When cut, the cake reveals the characteristic golden rings that give its the German name, Baumkuchen, which literally translate to "Tree Cake". To get the ring effect, a thin layer of batter is brushed evenly onto a spit and allowed to bake until golden, after which, the process is repeated.

Baum Kuchen layer cake from Nenrinya Bakery Cafe, Ginza. Looks like our kueh lapis? In fact, baumkuchen is softer and lighter in taste as compared to kueh lapis. The coating of icing on top helps to reduce the buttery taste, which can be quite overwhelming after a while. Of cuz, the price tag differs tremendously. This small piece of baumkuchen costs 735Yen.

Love the Fancl white Xmas tree! So pretty & princessy :)

Shopping loots! I was busy emptying the products on the shelves into my basket(s). There are actually more bags, but I don't have the energy to lift it up for picture taking, so make do with just one.

9 packages of Fancl Cleansing Oil, which translates to 18 bottles. Leecher was amazed at how much I can buy. Well, the packaging looks so enticing!

What's a trip to Ginza without visiting Burberry?

My big shopping bag as compared to

Leecher's small bag. LOL

Lesson learnt - the shopping bag increases proportionately to the amount spent in the shop. So want a bigger bag, buy more!

A Date with ...

While Leecher loads the pictures onto the blog for our Japan adventure, I am given the task (arrowed) to blog on our past activities for our readers.

Kaiwei & Yanni jio-ed us out on for Sat brunch. Yours truly here was surprisingly the earliest, reaching the station @ 11am sharp. Stupid Leecher took a long detour and took over 1hr to reach while he could have reached in 30 min. Seriously, I wonder how can anyone living in SG have such poor direction sense ...

Finally Leecher reached! Noticed how tight I am clinging onto him ..... *cuz Leecher is footing the bill for the day!!! Yippee! *

After a short taxi ride, we arrived at the place; can't wait to get started. All of us were hungry as we skipped breakfast for this.

Kaiwei and I couldn't resist the peanuts that we had to remind ourselves that THE BUFFET is the main agenda for the day.

White table setting; the "tools" that we needed to get our meal started.

2 types of buffet to choose - the usual and seafood. We settled for seafood buffet as there were more choices.

Leecher & Yanni deep in discussion on the ordering of food.

We started with a plate of sashimi; from our experience @ The Line, raw food just taste weird once your taste buds have come into contact with cooked food.

Seafood up next. Shark fins was just a bowl of starch and tasted blend. Yanni & me were obsessed with the cereals more than the prawns; we ordered 2nd helpings on the prawn & fish.

Dim sum next! The dumplings' skin were chewy and each revealed a piece of succulent prawn in it. Steamed pork was a mixture of lean and fatty meat, which Leecher conveniently pushed all the fatty ones to my plate.

The mini pandan egg tarts are so cute that I couldn't resist popping 2 into my mouth :) Looks like they were pretty popular as we were told they were sold out when we requested for 2nd helping :( Another surprise came in the form on fried beancurd skin with shrimps - the skin was crispy and leaves you craving for more ~ and we did with another round of it!

There are bound to be misses in their food menu and disappointment sunk in when I couldn't find any century egg in the porridge. Beef was salty and kang kong was just kang kong. No coincidence that they are grouped in this picture together.

Custard bun was yummy, though it paled in comparison with what we had in HK. Honey & apple jelly was refreshing, just the right amount of sweetness to end the day, perfect.

4 happy stomachs filled up and Leecher's wallet on the table *heehee*

We parted ways with Kaiwei & Yanni after the meal. We arrived in town, only to be greeted by this ...

We were lucky that our intended destination was not that crowded.

The Levi's Trade-In-Your-Old-Jeans deal @ Taka Square.

The Eco garden to increase our awareness on the environmental issues that Mother Earth is facing.

The huge pile of old jeans that you can grab for $5 bucks each. We spotted bright red/yellow/green skinnies in those pile, LOL

2 pairs of jeans for me! Just in time for the Japan trip :)

Not to be outdone by me, Leecher grabbed 2 pairs as well.

Our loots!
