Prata Shop

If u have read my bro's blog, Blamer had cravings for prata yesterday and dragged the whole family out to this prata place at Upp Thomson. (Strongly recommended by Roger who swears it's better than Jalan Kayu's) And of cos, it's me blogging again (ie Blamer coerced me to do it)

A cosy place by the road side, if u dun owe any wheels, buses available are 138 and 169, I think there's more but can't remember le.

This is the menu, quite poorly taken by Blamer but they sell almost identical prata flavours as the shop at Jalan Kayu. Being a restaurant, it offers noodles and other Indian dishes as well.

Our drinks, ordered soursop, lime and milo-dinosaur.

The food took awhile to come, hence Blamer decided to take some pic of a grumpy Dennis, who was forced out of the house.

In contrast, Blamer and me anticipating our food.

Finally...

Maggie Mee goreng.

I think the profit margin for this dish is awesome. Initially, the waiter asked. "chicken or mutton?" and I thought there was only two types, hence replied "chicken". However upon receiving the bill, I discovered that 'chicken" means an extra dollar, $4.50 for stir-fried maggie mee!!! Which means the third type Plain aka maggie mee with egg and vege, cost $3.50. But give them credit, this mee taste not bad at all... not bad at all...

Ha ha wat does this looks like;

Banana prata!! Roger ordered this plus a plain one.

Me with my Onion and Egg Prata.

Blamer with her Cheese and Egg Prata.

Another dish worth mentioning is this, the mutton curry which we ordered separately. Very very nice leh, goes well with the prata too, I think I dipped my prata in this curry more often den the ones that they served us with.

Satified Blamer forcing me to smile...

Mummy's Birthday

It's my mummy's bdae, so being the 孝顺 daughter, I still bought cakes for her even though she insisted that she dun want. Last year, she had Mango cake from Hans' and she loved it so much that she finished 3/4 of the cake.

This yr, I went back to Hans' again and bought slices of different cakes, so that she will get to "sample" a lot at one go. Lots of cakes on selection, hmm...can't really decide which one to buy

Finally decided on 6 cakes ....

According to Daddy, he says that the chocolate truffle is nice (middle one) - but den again, he likes anything that is chocolate, so ... go figure for yourselves.

Leecher thinks that the Pandan cake pales in comparision with those in Bangawan Solo

Her fave is the strawberry almond pie. I love this as well, the strawberries are big and yummy.

Happy Birthday Mummy, hope you like the present that we gave to you.

PS: my mum is camera-shy, so no pics of her, :)

长城粥

Other den the Sinma Frog Porridge, this other stall located in Chinatown is also one of my fav outlet for frog porridge. Whenever we pass by Outram and the time allows, I'll try to eat supper here.

We ordered the usual, two bowls of porridge, one 宫保 claypot frog and braised pig's intestines.

And b'cos we usually have to wait a while for the frog porridge, we will order chicken wings from the nearby stall. This chicken stall is really riding on the fame of the frog porridge stall man. I realised that I'm not the only one that orders chicken wings while waiting for the porridge and the wings used to cost $1.10, now its actually cost $1.30 a piece!! Talk about inflation.

But the most amazing discovery is that Blamer discovered how to take close up pics using "dent dent" by switching to the "flower" mode. Compare the two pics below:

Without the "flower" mode

With the "flower" mode. Great different rite?

Ring

Tonight me and Blamer went for dinner at Ang Mo Kio. Come to think of it, this is the third time this week that we are eating out. (Is this going to my future? Since Blamer know nuts about cooking)

Anyway, after dinner we went toast box for a cuppa and an idea hit Blamer...

Ha ha ha ha... lame duck Blamer...

Pepper Lunch

Although this is not like the newest eatery in town, it's my first time here, 'cos Blamer keep saying that the food sucks and is not worth the price tag. ( but I think it's b'cos Blamer is a lousy cook den most prob dunno how to check whether her own food is cooked or not)

This is the outlet at Suntec.

Although there is a menu at the counter, on every table, they still included booklet menu. Reminds me of Pasta Mania.

Blamer's curry cheese beef rice before mixing

During mixing...

Ta Da...

Mine after cooking. Apparently, notice I have no photos of me cooking the dish. WHY? B'cos Blamer is already busy goofing down her rice to take pics of me... : (

Verdict: not too bad leh, like the saltiness of the food ha ha, especially the bean sprouts.

The Day Blamer Came Back

This is a belated post. It was the day Blamer came back from her biz trip to KL. Din knew that she was so 大牌 that Roger actually went to the airport to fetch her.

Seems like Blamer missed me a lot. See how tight she was hugging me?

But den I realised that it was just a trick to get me to carry her luggage. Do I look that the character in the famous Chinese literature 背影? The story about a father with a limp, sending his daughter off at the train station? The daughter was looking at the back of her father and realised how fortunate she was to have such a doting father. This is the back of a doting boyfriend, ke ke.

There was also the scene whereby the father crossed some railings to buy fruits for his daughter so that she can snack on the train. aka me at the railings too.

However, it was worth all the hard work b'cos Blamer was treating us to breakfast!! Must chop her carrot head and hence we headed for...

We tried to order everything on the breakfast menu, including some very expensive herbal tea which cost $7 per person. Very nice teapot and teacup though.

One of them is supposed to be the eight treasures tea while the other was some weirdly named tea. Can't really tell the difference between the two leh.

But anyway, here comes the food:

Vegetable pao. normal normal.

This is their 葱油饼. Taste like roti prata.

This is the noodles that I ordered. Suppose to be some scallop noodles but i seriously can't see any scallops in it. Xiufeng thinks it tasted like instant noodles.

Roger ordered their signature noodles I think. Tasted like our hawker centre fare Satay Bee Hoon. Find the gravy a tat too thick and u can get quite sick of it after a few mouthfuls

Think this is by far the best dish so far. Spicy dumplings, the sauce goes well with everything else on the table.

Savoury bean curd was the name of this dish, but I just think it's bland. The one at 油条王 in Geylang tastes better.

This is just their plain bun. Their breakfast mainly consisted of flour, flour and more flour.

This was the worst. Glutinous rice with pork floss. Wah lame dish man.

Think this dish is recycled from the spicy dumplings dish. Dumplings w/o sauce.

Overall verdict: I think some of the dish can be omitted as they are the same ingredients but prepared in a different manner. And the whole breakfast thingy cost well over $70. Definitely not worth the price tag.
