Wedding Celebrations - Dinner P1

The half year mark - another 6 more months before we welcome 2013. Time literally flies this yr, esp when it seemed only yesterday when we count down @ BEDS during NYE. And, I am still blogging about the wedding, haha! Yes, I know I'm extremely slow but we have (finally) reached the banquet proper :)

Our wedding favours - measuring spoons & ice-cube trays for our guests.

Menu for the day, placed at every table.

Wedding figurine @ the top of the fake wedding cake. I used to think that these wedding cakes are real when I was young.

Brothers & Sisters gathered outside, waiting for the cue for march-in.

Inside the banquet hall, EK & Minqian were addressing our guests after they watched our childhood montage.

Marching in to the 1st song that we picked :) Felt magical with Leecher by my side.

Cake cutting ceremony! The wedding cake even had a slit for us to "cut" the cake.

Leecher helping me down the stage for our dinner. Food!!!

Waiting for food to be served! For a full review of food served during the wedding, hop onto foodie FMQ's post here.

Around the 2nd course, with the help of my sisters, I went back to the suite to change into my 2nd outfit & headed down for the 2nd march-in.

Ta-dah! My bollywood inspired outfit.

Champagne-pouring - ok, I only action action only, Leecher did the pouring.

交杯酒 - Crossing our arms and drinking the champagne together. This meant that we will form be forming a new family together and nothing can separate us.

Families & friends came up the stage to yum-seng together with us. Waves and waves of yum-seng filled up the banquet hall that night.

After the round of yum-seng, we took over the mike to give our thank-you speech.

Leecher "thanking" me for looking after this big baby & his pledge of love to me - and I held back my tears!

Turning to EK (who stood by the side) for being our match-maker.

My turn to give my speech :)

Tears came flowing as I thanked mummy dearest & once again, tissue arrived promptly in Leecher's hand *good job*

Think my speech must be quite touching, cuz lil bro was spotted with tears in his eyes too.

After giving our speeches, time for more picture-taking with the guests :)

PicPrints on Footprints

It has been 2 months since I started Project Thursday, a weekly posting of picture that I took with my camera. In fact, I enjoyed taking pictures for Project Thursday so much that I took way too much pictures (in fact, I think it can last me for the whole of next 3 yrs on Project Thursday) that I decided to rename Project Thursday to PicPrints - a combination of words for picture and footprints :) Thus, now I have no restrictions on posting pictures any day of the week, heehee!

Now, I just need a glass of champagne for the cross-over.

Bistro Du Vin

Just realised that today is the 30th & we have been married for 7 months! No wonder mummy dearest called me and told me not to come home tonight, cuz she must have wanted me and Leecher to celebrate our "monthiversary". Well, no plans for any fancy dinner - maybe just a simple meal together at the coffee shop opp our place. Well, at least Leecher brought me on a date sometime last year @ Bistro Du Vin, part of Les Amis chain of restaurant. Bistro Du Vin served classical french food & has 2 outlets - the first outlet is located @ Shaw Centre while the sister outlet is located @ Zion Road, which opened this Feb.

We went to the outlet located @ Shaw center :)

The chalkboard signage placed outside that highlights the latest dishes offered.

Table setting - love the checkered napkins, instead of the usual white napkins.

The place seats up to 62 guests, but reservations is strongly encouraged! See how packed the tiny place is on a Wednesday night.

Leecher with the menu and taking his own sweet time to order, lol!

Butter & bread to start the evening. Bread was served warm, with the usual butter.

Waiting for food! Hungry hungry!

Pan seared foie gras with prune compote - foie gras is a must-have whenever we dine at a French restaurant (or whenever I feel like having it!). One of the biggest slab that I've come across, but certainly not the best - for it was quite oily and both of us felt the urge to order tea to cleanse the stomach.

Char-grilled Australian Angus Ribeye with fries - fries, served in a separate plate, were cut too thick for my liking. The ribeye was juicy but there were too much fats that I had a hard time chewing.

Suckling pig confit, choucroute and bacon - Leecher wanted to order one of their signature dish and was debating b/w duck confit and suckling pig confit. In the end, he chose the latter. You get to choose b/w the belly or leg, with different pricing, of course. The dish started out pretty good in the beginning - Leecher was surprised at the melt-in-your-mouth experience. However, towards the middle, the jerlak feeling surfaced & it was a struggle to finish the meal. I had a taste of the meat - no doubt it was tender, but too salty for my liking.

All in all, not a very good (food-tasting) experience. I would have expected fancier plating but I guess simplicity is the key word here. No garnishes, nothing fanciful - just meat on the plate and there you go. Despite the cosy ambience they have created, doubt we will return in anytime soon.
