October & The Coastal Settlement

Month of October ~ brought back many memories! From being single to married, enjoying 1 yr of married life with Leecher .... thinking back, time really flies  - it felt like yesterday, where I was still hanging out with the sisters, the party that we had with the brothers, the tedious wedding preparations, the magical moment when we said "I Do", the after-party in the bridal suite. Looking back, I was thankful the day ran smoothly (or any hiccups that our brothers and sisters took care of), happy that mummy dearest, baby bro & lil bro managed to attend our ROM ceremony.

October has now become my 2nd fave month of the year, so entries for this month shall be all Leecher-Blamer related! Just realised that I've typed a rare word "Blamer" - this word basically don't exist as Leecher has gone into retirement from blogging, haha! We went on a date to one of the cafe that I've been wanting to try out. Leecher promptly called to make reservations & he even googled for directions! *clap clap*

Getting ready to go out! Kinda excited :) Wearing my new dress *much to Leecher's displeasure, haha*

Our lil date @ Coastal Settlement. Been hearing lots of reviews on this lil cafe hidden in Changi (one of the most ulu places that you can imagine).

The Coastal Settlement is a casual dining restaurant, cafe and bar all packed into one. There was a live band that night, singing mainly songs from the 90s. Listening to these songs brought back a lot of memories, esp when they accompanied me through my mugging days.

First look @ the menu .... in clipboard style.

I think this is the first time I've taken so many shots of a menu, haha!

Leecher flipping through the menu & drinks list, deciding on what to eat for dinner. He even went online to check out what are the must-eat.

We were given a sofa seat, and this is the view from where we were sitting.

Old school mugs! Reminds me of days spent @ granny's home.

Quick, serve the food! Famished already.

Drinks - chocolate martin (surprisingly comes served with a scope of Wall's chocolate ice cream) & strawberry mojito.

Truffle fries, served in a mess tin lookalike. Despite the similarity in price with PS cafe, they tasted miles apart. Till date, PS cafe truffle fries are still the best & it's very hard to rival that.

Wagyu beef cubes with salad - in my opinion, this is a must try! The beef is tender and melts in your mouth. 6 small pieces for quite a hefty price tag of $20+ (if I recall correctly)

with the dearest Leecher :)

At $16 a plate, this is the most expensive nasi lemak that I've ever eaten in my whole life. Doesn't taste different from the usual $2.50 type, apart from the addition of 2 x tiger prawns.

The highlight of the meal ~ wagyu beef & mushroom pizza, which is also their specialty! We were reaching capacity, so we had to pack half of it home for supper. Highly recommended.

All the vintage items, such as watches, calculators, pots etc are up for sale.

Childhood snacks - free flow for all to take :) I bite off the flowers on top and left the biscuits for Leecher, haha!

A vespa in the cafe! One of my lil wish is to get married on a vespa, but Leecher got no bike license :(

Took a lil walk & was surprised to realise that the place is pretty big. Felt as if I was part of the Survivor reality show, making my way into tribal council.

The place was packed to the brim (both indoors and outdoors) when we left, so you can guess how popular this place is. Despite the misses in some dishes, I think I'll be back for more :)

Thank you dearie for the wonderful date *muacks*

Comex 2012

Our study room table was filled with all sorts of rubbish for the past few months. I had to shift out my laptop and continued my work in the living room while the pile continued its vertical climb.

Finally, I've decided to clear the table, move my new gadget into the room and refurnished the room as my workspace (also, kicking Leecher out of the room, as there is just no more space left for his stuff). He shall continue to roam our house with his laptop and charger at whatever space he can call it his comfort zone.

Introducing my new gadget that I acquired at the Comex show :) A bigger screen makes working easier as well.

Setting up the new monitor & coincidentally, I bought another Samsung product for the house!
Finally, my new workspace where I"ll be spending lots of time working off my laptop :)

Taiwan Trip: Shin Yeh & Shilin Night Market

We parted ways on the metro train, arranging to meet up back at the hotel after our appointment.

I headed to Taipei 101, where Clarins had reserved a table for our dinner

Brunty couldn't make it for dinner, so it was just me, Clarins & Crispy. Shin Yeh @ Taipei 101 is located on the 85th floor.
Even the walk into the restaurant is literally 诗情画(花)意, with poems on the walls and fresh flowers decorating the walkway.

If I recall correctly, there is a minimum spending of NT$X amount per person to dine in this restaurant.

There are several Shin Yeh branches around the whole of Taipei, but this is the only branch that boosts a nice view of the city.

Crispy is always gamed to try out anything new & loves all sorts of cuisines. So, we ordered some of their signature dishes for him to try out.

It was fun meeting up with them and learning more about other markets. Even though Clarins & me shared similar roles, the way our clients used the product is so different across different markets. So, it's always interesting to exchange notes and brainstorming ideas.

I brought back some snacks for Leecher & family - chewy rice dumplings from Shin Yeh. The dumplings were very chewy (QQ, as what we would call it in local language) & extremely flavourful!

Meanwhile, while I was enjoying my food up on the 85th floor, Leecher & family went to Shilin Night Market for dinner.

The famous 豪大大鸡排 which is a must-try @ the night market.

The legendary stinky tofu, which only smells stinky but taste like normal tofu. In fact, Leecher said this version is very mild from those that he tried before.

滷肉飯, another Taiwanese must-try dish.

Still not very used to their version of Fried Oyster, but I guess its something new to try for the parents :)

大腸包小腸 is actually a pork sausage wrapped in a glutinous rice sausage. This was actually a creation of the night market vendors and promptly became a must-eat item in the night market.

Ended the night walking through the alleys of the night market, watching locals playing games and trying to score that big win!
