BKK Trip with Leecher Nov 2012 P1

Blogging quite randomly these few weeks, random juxtaposition of recent and past events. Another (extremely) updated entry on our recent BKK trip in November :) Needless to say, Leecher did his usual stunt - took his passport, luggage, money and headed to the airport *slaps forehead* I've always warned him not to get me pissed off in a foreign country, if not, I'll just leave him alone at the roadside. He came up with the perfect counter strategy - he holds the wallet of our money, so if he is left stranded, he can always cab his way back to the hotel. Brilliant idea, so he says >.<

It was pouring heavily while waiting for a cab and we were drenched by the time we managed to get one. 

The heavy downpour stopped as soon as we reached Pasir Ris area! Odd weather sometimes, but I'm not complaining :)

Had our lunch @ Texas Chicken - my first time trying this, but I still prefer Popeyes's biscuit over this version. 

           

Making our way to the gates, with our hand-carry luggages. Decided to travel light on the way there & save some money too.

       

 

 Queuing up to board the aircraft. The flight was pretty full, but we managed to get seats together.

  

Onboard AirAsia, which now lands at Don Muang International Airport. 

      

 Entertained myself with my drama shows, and taking pictures of the clouds.

 

Arrived at Don Muang airport - a small airport at first glance.  

We took the airport shuttle bus that runs b/w Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi, which was a big mistake! I forgot to check the exact location of Don Muang, thinking that as long as the shuttle bus service runs b/w both airports, we can get on the Airport Rail which is only available from Subarnabhumi airport to the hotel. 

When the bus entered the expressway & I saw the Airport Rail tracks, I knew for sure we were taking a detour. So, we went from B to A then to C (red route) instead of B to C (green route). Mega detour! Thankfully, I received an SMS on my phone saying that I can redeem 100THB of starbucks voucher (courtesy from DTAC) at their booth in Suvarnabhumi Airport, which makes the journey more worthwhile, haha!

I'll normally take the Airport Rail to the city, a fast and inexpensive way. Each person costs max of 45THB. A cab ride would probably costs more than 250THB, so share a cab if you're travelling with more people.

20 mins later, we alighted at Ratchaprarop Station.

 

The road was being blocked off, for the one of their domestic train to pass through the city.

 

Checked into Tango hotel, the same hotel that we stayed during our 1st trip. This hotel is within walking distance from the train station, but nowhere near any BTS station, which is a minus point. Also, they only offer 1hour free wifi per day per room :(  My 3rd time staying in this hotel, 4th time soon in Jan, haha! Time to explore other hotels in the area.

We were famished by the time we checked into the hotel. Brought Leecher to the chicken rice place that I brought the girls previously.
 

 

 This stretch of road is what I'll like to call the Chicken Rice road, since there are 3 chicken rice stalls fighting for business. They are distinguished by the colour of the shirts that they are wearing. I've always frequented the pink shirts, since it was supposedly the best of the lot. 

They operate from morning till late, and chopping non-stop.

The place was crowded when we arrived around 8.30pm. Had to struggle to find seats for 2 pax.

  

2nd time tasting, I still think the taste is so-so, not worth the hype. Leecher echoed my sentiments as well. Worth a try if you're in the area OR head to the other chicken rice stalls for comparison.

Reno Diary - Curtain Installation & Arrival of Furnitures

Took down our curtains to wash today and I was reminded of the time when we first installed our curtains in the house! Time really flies, for we have been staying here for the past 1.5 years and it only felt like yesterday when we moved into our lil apartment :) Anyway, let's take another journey down memory lane, where we arranged for Anthony to drop by for curtain installation. Much thanks to Fling for the recommendation! 

Curtain Installation  

 

The various fabric that I've chosen for the living room & bedrooms. Dark colours for the bedrooms, for I wanna sleep in during weekends without any sunlight shinning in *lazy bum*

 

Barang barang that Anthony brought along.  

 

Anthony is certainly a fast worker and he handled everything himself *amazing* He even provided me with matching cushion covers in the living room *loves*

 

After he was done, he taught Leecher how to fold the curtains nicely to create the nice curve. Well, I think that was the only time our curtains were folded nicely, for after that, we couldn't be bothered with it. 

 Arrival of Sofa

One of the interesting process of house renovation is shopping for furniture. No doubt it took us quite a while to source out all the furniture that matches our theme, but I'm very pleased with the end results! When you see all the little pieces together, you can't help but feel a sense of accomplishment & reminded of the times when we walked down countless alleyways, got chased by dogs, shared a small umbrella under a heavy downpour etc. Every piece of furniture bought came with pieces of memories attached to it :) 

 

Meanwhile, our sofa has arrived! We sort of customized our sofa - to have the round curves at the side for a more country look.     

Ta-dah! Our cosy living room :) 

 Arrival of Bedroom Furnitures

We took a long time hunting down the country-themed furnitures, so imagine my joy when we finally found a place that caters to all our needs! Best of all, they offer customisation, so we did some changes to our bedside table (by combining 2 designs) and the chest of drawers. 

 

On hindsight, I should have placed order for another chest of drawers, for the current one is bursting with clothes! Or, maybe I should throw away Leecher's stuff, since he's pretty fond of throwing away my stuff, keke. 

 

 

Bought our first set of bedsheets from IKEA china, where they have lots of king-sized bedsheets available. I lugged back 2 sets, for SG only have queen sizes for those designs that I liked. 

 Storage Rack in Storeroom 

 

Did a 4-tier storage rack in the bomb shelter for us to organise our stuff. Packed those stuff into Toyogo boxes, so it's easier for us to retrieve the things when required :) 

 1st item in our cupboard :)

 

When we were packing our belongings to move over, I've pondered over what is the 1st thing I should put inside our walk-in wardrobe. Yes, I'm that bo liao sometimes, haha! Hence, the 1st thing that I placed inside our cupboard comes in a lil white box ..... which contained 

our wedding bands :) 

The perfect item to put in a house that we will be staying, one that we shared our laughter, tears and happiness :)
