Good "Eat Out" at Lucky Plaza

Tired of the typical restaurants located along Orchard Road, my Indonesian colleague recommended that me and Blamer can try out the less mainstream eat outs at Lucky Plaza.

Ayam Bakar - I think this is located on the 3rd flr (or is it 2nd flr??) Anyways their signature dishes I supposed are the ones with the more blowed up pics, hence I ordered their grilled chicken rice while Blamer went for the fried version.

Condiments consisting of the regular sambal chilli on the right and the more unconventional one which I usually come across when I order Mee Soto at those Malay stores. It is still chilli sauce just that black soy sauce was used as the base I think.

The chicken came. It's interesting that for Indonesian cruisines, they usually serve it with the peanut thingy (red arrow pointing), this has quite an acquired taste which both Blamer and me can't get used to. The chicken frankly is a tad too hard both for the grilled and the fried. The sauce on the grilled chicken was also too sweet for me.

Nevertheless, just look at the background, the eatery was still packed but mainly with Indonesians.

After the meal, Blamer brought me to a Filipino eatery (this is definitely located on the 3rd flr), where they sell handmade kueh.

We picked two. One sweet corn and the other is black glutinous rice I think. The brownish flakes are fried grated coconut. Texture is quite chewy, prefered the corn to the glutinous rice in terms of taste. Very fragrant, the sweetness of corn bursting in your mouth with very bite.

All-in-all, this is a real economy way to fill ur stomach. Total cost less than SGD30 for two.

Daddy's Birthday

It's my Dad's birthday, Roger decided to take us out to Riverside Indonesian Restaurant to check out their bbq.

Hmm... riverside dining while we were sitting so far away from the river? But I reckon this was better cos I recall that the river wasn't exactly very sweet smelling either, ha ha.

Wow, wat a spread. There are different combinations to choose from and we ordered the $16.80 per pax for about 7 dishes I think. Of cos, the drinks were included.

Their table setting.

Some cam-whoring. Too bad my photo-shopping skills aren't as good as XX, if not, I could have remove the zits on Blamer's forehead. Hee hee.

Crackers were served as starters, but I think the ones they serve at Lemongrass Thai Restaurant tasted better.

Lime juice all round and the rice in a very interesting bucket.

The first few dishes: Bean sprouts, sambal stingray and otah-otah.

Follow by: Tauhu telok, bbq prawns, bbq sotong and their ayam. According to Roger, the ayam is the best dish of the lot. I think so too and the prawns as well.

After dinner, we decided to bring papa to a treat.

An ice cold beer at Brewerkz-known for their freshly brewed beer.

While walking over to Brewerkz, we came across this fountain... ...

Blamer insist on taking a pic with it. Wat abt me?

Oh they have so many different types of beers to choose from. Light lager and those dark ale.

Ordered some sausages and cheeses to go down with the beer.

Went to the toilet to a leak but while I was there, I saw their secret... ...

Wow, ha ha their stash of freshly brewed beer.

Pic of the day... ... (not the individual full body pic for a change *hee*)

Team Dinner @ Indochine

It's one of the rare times whereby we have both Crispy and Richard in SG office, thus we went for a team dinner @ Indochine Waterfront.

Ordered drinks to kick off the night. I took a gamble and ordered appletini (bottom left), to my surprise, it tastes good!

We were seated @ the bar while the waiter arranged a table for us. Somehow, I managed to capture this artistic pic of Richard unintentionally.

The sky turning dark - which serves as a signal that it's time to proceed indoors and have our feast.

The members of our team - Eric, Elliott, Andrew, Natasha and me. It's a pity that Rinta went for her holidays. Don't worry, we will help you to eat your share :P

Crispy in the house; think he must be busy preparing for his wedding. Hope you have found ur ring!

I was starving by the time we sat at the table. I was busy gobbling down the crackers when it hit me that these are not prawn crackers but a mixture of prawn & crab. Interesting, talking about fusion ar. I was given the honour to taste the white wine - my, it's very smooth & has a fruity taste, I like!

As starters, Natasha ordered the Indochine platter, much to Crispy's delight.

We were served with a lime sorbet before they serve the main course. Sorbets are traditionally served between the starter course and main course in order to cleanse the palate

Fillet of Halibut - the fillet is pretty fresh, but somehow I managed to see the fish bones. All these while, I thought fillet is boneless?

Marinated chicken in lemon juice - it would definitely taste better if they didn't add in mint leaves.

Cambodian tiger prawns - this is the best of all, cuz I am a sucker for prawns.

Cambodian style chilli and basil chicken - tender chicken, though it would taste better if it's more spicy.

Indochine grilled scallops - Eric's fave though he is allergic to seafood.

Grilled beef of champasak - you can nv go wrong with beef this restaurant.

Pan Fried tofu - soft andhave a slight tinge of butter to it.

Next up, desserts! I tried the spicy chocolate previously, so we decided to try something new today. Natasha can't wait to attack!

Indochine's Temptation (recommended) - consists of chestnut parfait, black sesame ice cream, bua loy-Laotian dessert (a mix of taro, pumpkin and pandan flavours) complete with red bean compote.

Tiramisu - heavenly. Love the chocolate flakes at the top.

Chocolate fudge torte - dense chocolate sponge layered with Valrhona chocolate mousse.

It turns out that Natasha is very much a dessert person, she also promised she will make desserts for us. Natasha, if you are reading this - you have to fulfill your promise, wa ha ha :P

Bali Thai All-You-Can-Eat Buffet

It's time to take a break from sniffing out all the tasty hawker treats, today we decided to try out... ...

Actually, it was me who wanted to try this as Blamer with all the "entertaining of clients" have already tried the food here.

That's me browsing thru the menu and the first pic that caught my eye was... ...

Wow! Sumptuous, finger-licking good pic this was. But this set cost $40.00.

Versus the all u can eat ala carte buffet which cost $19.90 per head... ... I think the former has to wait for next time.

So while we were waiting... ...

Notice the plates decor in the background? Pretty nice actually, wonder if I can do something like this in my dining room next time.

Ha ha, the spread. Clockwise from top left: tahu telok, pineapple rice, beef curry and mango salad.

Clock wise from top left again: tomyam soup, fried pandan chicken, stir-fried baby kai lan and sambal kangkong

The left two pics were combination appetizers. Need to separate into two pics cos the plate was too looonnng. The right 2 pics were sweet and sour fish and sambal sotong.

Lastly, from top left: Stir-fried glass noodles, satay and Thai green curry.

What a spread!! By the end of the meal, both of us could barely lift our butts off the seats. Ha ha.

As we were walking out of the restaurant, I commented that Blamer seems to have put on some weight. As if to prove her point that she was still as slim as she claims... ...

She actually squeezed into a kiddy ride just outside the restaurant! faint*
