Smurfs came visiting!

La, la, la, la, la, la, sing a happy song
La, la, la, la, la, la, Smurf the whole day long

(whistle) - Smurf along with me
(whistle) - simple as can be

Next time you're feeling blue just let a smile begin
Happy things will come to you so Smurf yourself a grin

(spoken) "Ooh, I hate Smurfs! I'll get you, I'll get all of you, If it's the last thing I'll ever do!"

La, la, la, la, la, la, now you know the tune
La, la, la, la, la, la, you'll be Smurfing soon.

With the launch of Smurf's movie in 3D, the little blue creatures began to capture our hearts all over again, esp so for those born in the 80s. Smurfs kept me company during my childhood amongst many others - like Carebears, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters etc. So, imagine my delight when these creatures came visiting @ Raffles Place!

Aint they adorable?

All adults wanting to snap pictures of the lovely creatures :)

I remembered when I was still mugging for my exams during secondary school days, I'll always listen to Perfect 10 late at night, with Glenn Ong & his misfits! They never fail to amuse me with their jokes and conversations. However, at 1.59am, I'll automatically tune in to YES933, as Desmond's parting song will always be
.
.
.
.
.
Try to sleep now, close your eyes
Soon the birds would stop singing
Twinkling stars, are shining bright
They'll be watching you all night

All the things, you enjoy
On this beautiful day
All your friends, all your toys
will be waiting for you to play

Mr. Moonlight will come bring you dreams
As soon as the lights are out
And tomorrow you must tell me
what those dreams were all about"

Try to sleep now, close your eyes
Try to think of tomorrow
All of us wish you good night
So I'm switching off the lights

One more hug, one more smile
Kiss you once, kiss you twice
I'll be here for a while
Try to sleep now and close your eyes

GOOD NIGHT!

Witty Poems

During GE2011, my FB feed was flooded with lots of information about the opposition parties. In fact, those who supported the govt stuck out like a sore thumb on my news feed. I've also began to read the alternative platforms out of curiosity. After reading for a few months, I can't help but to be amazed by this person, who writes comments poems - funny yet straight-to-the-point. Extracted some for your enjoyment :)

# Curry Saga #
For those Singapore Indians I feel sorry, They got to cook their dishes in a hurry,
PRC neighbours will be back they worry, What a heavy burden they have to carry,
We can only blame that old dictator Harry, Because he let foreigners come in a flurry,
So when come the day old Harry “up lorry”, Singaporeans will rejoice in joy and merry"
# Presidential Elections 2011 #
Dear S’poreans get ready to start, Remember to be wise and smart,
All of you have to do your part, When you look at the election chart,
Tony is the one you have to thwart, And hug Tan jee Say’s loving heart.
# Patrick Tan's Army Stint #

Trying to con us are Tony and his son Patrick, Doing NS the hard way was not the son’s pick,
So to disrupt NS for 12 years was a good trick, Serving as “defence scientist” was his next gimmick,
And PAP’s Mindef came out to defend him so quick, Thinking that we S’poreans are either “Kayu” or brick,
But all their replies are just crap that simply can’t tick, Now Tony Tan must be a man with a skin very thick,
Shamelessly to his presidency plan he continues to stick, Making us Singaporeans want to vomit and feel sick.

Contentment

Where's your dream seat?

There was a roadshow last week @ Chervon House which attracted a lot of attention, even made it to the papers. The guy above was supposedly sitting on his "dream seat", but the catch is - where's the seat?

Turned out that it was a marketing gimmick from VW for their new Jetta. Hmm, I think the old Jet still looks nicer though.

Mid-week

Took this when I was walking back to my new place from the station. This reminded me of a Chinese saying "路,是人走出来的". Whichever path we embark on, just don't regret it, as it's a choice no one can make but ourselves.

Leaving for BKK in 20 hours time! But alas, working trips are never the same as personal trips :(

Random-ness

Happy Monday! Currently suffering from Monday blues as I took a peek at my schedule for this week :( some random updates from my phone :)

While waiting for Leecher for our weekly lunch. Whoever said guys must wait for girls must have never met Leecher before, if not, he would have nv come up with the statement.

My weekly fix! Will always crave for this dish whenever I'm feeling cold.

The freebie from a roadshow. Haven tried it yet but it's supposed to help you slim down.

Waiting patiently for another of my weekly must-have, esp when I'm traveling home from lovenest :)

Tadah! The best maggi mee goreng that I've ever tasted. Leecher remained utterly amazed that I can eat this almost every week w/o fail, haha!

GE 2011

The scorecard is out, results finalised for GE 2011. With this election, residents of Aljunied have voted in an alternative voice in the Parliament, with Worker's Party as their representative! Kudos to the residents for making this choice :) Thus, a short entry on my GE journey before I fly off to Beijing to escape from the scorching hot weather.

Our 2nd chance to vote @ GE, with the first in 2006. To kick-off our GE adventure, we attended the Worker's Party 1st rally @ Hougang.

Look at the crowd that turned out! Gosh, I can't even see where the stage was and just edged my way forward, so that we can listen to the speeches.

Ice-cream uncle hopping onto the bandwagon to cash in more business :)

We decided to go up one of the nearby blocks. Boy, what a scene we saw when we were on the 10th floor! News reported that the turnout was more than 20k, far more impressive than PAP's turnout!

Yaozu was drenched in sweat from climbing up/down the stairs, lol!

Leecher decided that he wants to be top of the world (at the playground). "This is what Cool Looks Like"

Attended the finale of WP's rally @ Serangoon Stadium with Nijun & Fling. At the junction towards the stadium, we even have police controlling the traffic! People were shouting "Worker's Party! Worker's Party!" as they walked towards the stadium.

All united as one, as we listened to the speeches given by each and every candidate.

For those who didn't manage to get into the stadium, they sat outside on the grass patches & pavements, supporting the candidates with their cheers!

My polling card - a privilege that I had since I turned 21. Thanks to the opposition, some of my peers have their 1st chance at voting.

Back to my alma mater to cast my vote. I'm so glad that WP broke through the GRC system and won Aljunied, but utterly sad that Mrs Chiam lost Potong Pasir with just a razor-thin margin. Well, I guess that's life - you win some, you lose some.

Quote for thought

I've not been reading as much as I wanted to with all the late nights and never-ending work. Even my journey time to work was spent on catching up with news on my iphone apps.

When I was packing my room the other day, I found this book inside my shopping bag, with my bookmark at a particular page - a parable that touched me deeply:

A man goes out on the beach and sees that it is covered with starfish that have washed up in the tide. A little boy is walking along, picking them up and throwing back into the water.

"What are you doing, son?" the man asks. "You see how many starfish there are? You'll never make a difference."

The boy paused thoughtfully, and picked up another starfish and threw it into the ocean.
"It sure made a difference to that one," he said.

Short Note

Back from BKK with Leecher! Lots of shopping done, personal & for our love nest :)

Will try to blog about it when we have the time! I wish I have more time a day to complete all the stuff that I wanted to do!

Anyone has a time traveling device like Hermonie in Harry Potter? I desperately need one of it now!

Kite Flying

Guess where am I going with an ugly looking bag and dressed in shorts and flip-flops.

Marina Barrage for picnic and Blamer's virgin kite flying experience.

Always reminded me of the design sch @ NTU when I walked up this ramp.

Great view on top of the barrage.

What about the view here?

My specially prepared picnic basket for Blamer.

Complete with fruits, drinks and even a portable radio.

My yummi-li-cious 爱心 sandwiches. Black-pepper ham with hard-boiled eggs, lettuce, tomatoes and crunchy Japanese mini cucumbers topped with calcium rich cheese.

Bon-appetit!

Love the cups that came with the picnic basket. I still remember the basket was a free gift when I applied for my very first credit card.

After filling up our stomachs, it's time for Blamer's virgin kite-flying experience.

Let's go!

Now the teacher to demonstrate... ...

Not a very windy day though.

If you don't believe me, look, other people were having problems too.

Blamer's turn. Boasting that she would be able to get the kite flying.

Which was actually not too bad.

Whoa and the kite caught the wind.

Looking real good.

But then someone else's kite got tangled with ours and we got to start all over again.

Weren't successful after that, we decided to call it a day when announcement started blaring from the speakers asking us to evacuate from the open area due to possible thunder storm ahead.

Still a lot of ppl flying their kites as we packed up to leave.

A little disappointed that our kite weren't amongst them.

Anyways Blamer seems pretty happy about her accomplishment.
