Bridal Nails

Pedicure & manicure never existed in my dictionary, as I've never paid much attention to my nails. I prefer to keep my nails short, for I can't stand the dirt trapped underneath those nails when they reached a certain length. So, I went for my virgin mani & pedi session few days before the wedding. When it comes to bridal nails, I was all ready for french nails, as they were simple & classic and matches with everything :)

JL recommended me to this place where she goes for her sessions.

The place was quite crowded even though it was a weekday afternoon.

Giving my feet the well-deserved soak & scrub.

The massaging chair! Love it!

Choosing the colours - wa, didn't know there were so many to choose from.

Working on my feet

All cleaned up and ready :)

Working on my nails ...

with extension, as my original nails weren't long enough.

Ta-dah! The finished product. Something simple for the actual day. Can still see part of my original nails close up.

After coming back from our Bali trip, went back to soak off my nails. Can see how much it has grown over a span of 2 weeks.

After my bridal nails, I think I'm hooked on manicure! haha, Leecher isn't too pleased to know that though :p

An Chuan Day

Back from my trip and home to a basket filled with laundry. My luggage used to clear miraculously by itself when staying with mummy dearest. Now, it still stays pretty much the same at the exact place where I left it last night, haiz :( Too tired to unpack, but before heading to bed, here's a wedding post related to bed too :)

A few days before the wedding, we had to 安床 (Bed-Setting). This process simply involves moving the nuptial bed to right position, along with adding the new bedsheets.

Leecher & lil bro helping out on changing new bedsheets. Traditionally, the bedsheets would consists of symbols of dragons and phoenixes. Under the Western influence, many Chinese couples prefer pink sheets with flowers or hearts. We still prefer some simpler, so we got plain red sheets instead.

Gotten the nuptial bed setting package & a set of lamps.

In Chinese, lamp (灯 – dēng) has the similar sound of son (丁 - dīng). As such, lighting the lamps (添灯- tiān dēng) is symbolic of adding sons (添丁 – tiān dīng) to the family.

According to the fengshui booklet from Master Long, we need to prepare the following:

4 types of fruits, 1 each - to signify safe, peace and good health throughout the 4 seasons yearly.

1 pineapple - to signify never-ending prosperity & happiness from generation to generation. 1 "huat kueh" to signify fruitful union with good wealth & abundance fortune. 1 red packet, to signify fame & success troughtout the whole of the 12 months yearly.

Leecher placing all the items at their respective positions.

On the day of 安床, the nuptial bed must be occupied by a person. This auspicious ritual is to attract and keep the beneficial energy to energize the nuptial bed, to successfully harness the excellent chi that enhances martial bliss.

Win & Van's Big Day P2

Continued with P2 on the 2nd half of the day. After pic-taking @ the airport, we ventured back to Win's house for tea ceremony.

My first time @ Win's place and I finally realized what he meant by his hall room was bigger than his own room, after 7 years!

Fa-ge found a new found friend and became the 烧猪 IC for the day. He was even trying to share his drink with the pig and teaching him how to read newspaper >.<

Piggy gets to sit in Yunfa's car, not the merc!

王董 supposedly has to deliver the pig to Van's house and ensure that it reaches before the rest of us. So, he set off half hour earlier than us. We were so worried that he may stop the car halfway and begin his own feasting on the pig that we kept checking on the status of the pig via whatsapp.

Van wanted to have a go at driving the car, so she drove back to her mum's place.

Nice car! And the owner of the car is so young and pretty with an adorable daughter.

Went back to change before heading back to the hotel for dinner. We were slightly earlier, so we chilled out at the helper's room, playing with Chuanyew's Ipad.

Headed down to the reception area to find the couple rehearsing for their march-in with the nephew. The decorations were up and a lot of efforts went into DIY-ing the angpao box as well as the well-wishes card placed on each seat. Can feel the personal touch! And the prettiest Van (aka 大嫂)did a frame for my wedding! She's the best :)

Nephew must be very sleepy, haha!

Sisters getting ready for reception duties.

with the bride in her lovely gown.

Kids marching in first before the couple.

Famished by the time dinner was served! As the brothers had duties on hand, we saved some food for them to eat.

Fa-ge was the defacto yum-seng IC, with Leecher as his assistant.

Table pic with the lovely couple

Lined up glasses of white wine waiting for the groom's arrival.

He was taking his own sweet time, so we went ahead with round 1 first!

The day was also Ivy's birthday, so we drank to that as well.

Fa-ge finally gave in to our 亲一下 chant and gave a kiss to his wife :)

The groom finally arrived and he went round hugging pple! First to kena was Chuanyew.

Then it was me and Leecher.

Tried to break free also cannot until I need to seek help from Van.

A group pic to end the night before the rest of the brothers dump him in the toilet, in the bridal suite, of cuz!

Project Thursday - Together

A shot of our toothbrushes together in my cup, despite having our own corners in the puny bathroom.

Edit: Project Thursday is now known as PicPrints (from 1st June 2012 onwards)
