Honeymoon: Picnic at Tuileries Garden

*****
Our morning stroll from hotel to Tuileries Garden was for a purpose - we are having a picnic in the garden compound! Leecher knows how much I love picnic & he suggested going for an impromptu picnic during one of the days :) My hubby is the best, yay *muacks*

Tuileries Garden (Jardin des Tuileries in French) is located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde. This huge garden was initially a garden of the Tuileries Palace, but was converted to a public park after the French Revolution.

Families, tourists and locals all gathered around the fountain area, just enjoying a day out in the sun. Whenever we travel to cold countries, I'm very thankful for the sun - standing underneath the sun versus the shade made a whole lot of difference!

Plenty of chairs available for everyone to sit on :)

These ducks seemed to accustomed to being around humans. If you happen to catch them in a good mood, they may even perform a trick of two for your viewing pleasure!

Leecher was literally dying from lack of caffeine - he toured the whole garden just to find a kiosk selling coffee. Not to mention that it costs almost €3 for a small cup, akin to the vending machine cup. Next time, I should just bring a couple of coffee packets & sell it to him. Good $$ churning opportunity, heh.

It was an impromptu picnic, so we just gathered whatever food we can find from our stash. Biscuits which I took from our SQ flight, Laduree macarons, apples from the fruit basket in our room, left over bread from Paul's, snacks from M&S etc. Quite a spread that we put together.

We sat near the fountain initially. As soon as I took out my "picnic" basket, we were surrounded by small birds! I got scared for they were inching closer and closer to us, waiting for food to drop from the sky. So we decided to retreat abit and moved backwards.

The grass patch looked inviting, but I couldn't find a makeshift mat anywhere.

Trusty bag hook for our dustbin. I got 3 of these - gave 1 to MIL and broke 1 during my Guangzhou trip. This is the last one surviving! Hopefully this will last for a very long time.

Once we have settled down, time to get our picnic started! We were famished by now, having walked a long way earlier.

Brioche Au Sucre €3.30 - this tasted rather plain, much to my disappointment.

Had to rely on a blackcurrent violet macaron to add some taste.

Anyone wanna guess what Leecher is doing?

HAHAHAHAHAHA! 一点都不相!Good try, my dear :)

We spotted this cute family on skaters! I have to say the mummy is really pretty & both her little boys inherited her hair colour & eyes.

Once we finished eating, clear up all the rubbish and dump the trash into the bin #responsiblecitizen.

It was an wonderful picnic with Leecher! Though I missed our picnic basket & home-made food items, what matters most is the company :)

Housework

Leecher: Dear, you are getting lazier. While I was busy vacuuming & mopping the floor, you are in the room surfing the net.

Me: I was researching on our year-end trip *shows him the detailed itinerary with notes & costing etc* Just because you mop/vacuum the floor doesn't make you hardworking since you only do it once every 3 weeks, heh.

Leecher: No, last week I got mop & vacuum.

Me: You sure? I remembered last Sunday we took your parents out and before that we were with friends having brunch.

Leecher: I did it on Sat.

Me: Really? I'm pretty sure we were at my parents' place on Sat.

Leecher: .... I vacuum and mop in my heart.

Me: *speechless*

Honeymoon: Romantic Morning Walk in Paris

5927122569004525986
It took me almost 6 separate posts before I finished our 1st full day in Paris. I can't imagine how many more posts I'll churn out for the rest of the days, haha! Well, I just have to keep going since I hate leaving things undone, heh. For the start of 2nd day, we took a "romantic" morning walk to Tuileries Garden :)

#ootd before starting out day and we were both dressed in matching red :) 592710917443834528259271087579794804985927109065169165490
It was still early and there weren't much traffic on the roads. We decided to walk since the weather was cooling.

Notice anything different about the trees in this area?
59271145864655446585927114577990816114
Clipped horse chestnut trees lined the walkway. I wonder how much time is spent grooming these trees into their rectangular shape?

Getting bored at walking, so Leecher embarked on his mission of 自拍, only to be photo-bombed.

Luxor Obelisk, which was originally located at the entrance to Luxor Temple in Egypt. This was gifted to France in 1829 & placed in the center of Place de la Concorde in 1836.

I wanted to take a candid pic of touristy Leecher, with his camera slinging in front of him. Who knows that he'll be that sensitive to cameras and gave a smile.

Fontaines de la Concorde (even the fountain has a name!) were built during the reign of King Louis-Philippe. The south fountain commemorates the maritime commerce and industry of France, while the north fountain commemorates navigation and commerce on the rivers of France. Above is the maritime fountain representing the maritime spirit of France. Large semi-nude figures supporting the vasque represent the Mediterranean Sea & the Atlantic Ocean.

The weather was getting cold, so I suggested a stop at Angelina for their signature hot chocolate. Angelina is a luxury brand with a prestigious image that symbolises the "french way of life". They are famous for mont blanc (up to 600 are sold every day!) and hot chocolate.

I'm lost in a pastry world! Cakes, breads and tarts were on display and everything looked so delicious. We ordered some bread, with a cup of their signature hot chocolate for takeaway. I missed the chance to dine in their tearoom - well, that's for another time!

These tiny jars of goodies would make good souvenirs.

With the cup of rich hot chocolate in hand (to warm my hands at the same time), we headed off for our next activity :)
