Reno Diary - Curtain Installation & Arrival of Furnitures

Took down our curtains to wash today and I was reminded of the time when we first installed our curtains in the house! Time really flies, for we have been staying here for the past 1.5 years and it only felt like yesterday when we moved into our lil apartment :) Anyway, let's take another journey down memory lane, where we arranged for Anthony to drop by for curtain installation. Much thanks to Fling for the recommendation!

Curtain Installation

The various fabric that I've chosen for the living room & bedrooms. Dark colours for the bedrooms, for I wanna sleep in during weekends without any sunlight shinning in *lazy bum*

Barang barang that Anthony brought along.

Anthony is certainly a fast worker and he handled everything himself *amazing* He even provided me with matching cushion covers in the living room *loves*

After he was done, he taught Leecher how to fold the curtains nicely to create the nice curve. Well, I think that was the only time our curtains were folded nicely, for after that, we couldn't be bothered with it.

 Arrival of Sofa
One of the interesting process of house renovation is shopping for furniture. No doubt it took us quite a while to source out all the furniture that matches our theme, but I'm very pleased with the end results! When you see all the little pieces together, you can't help but feel a sense of accomplishment & reminded of the times when we walked down countless alleyways, got chased by dogs, shared a small umbrella under a heavy downpour etc. Every piece of furniture bought came with pieces of memories attached to it :)

Meanwhile, our sofa has arrived! We sort of customized our sofa - to have the round curves at the side for a more country look.

Ta-dah! Our cosy living room :)

 Arrival of Bedroom Furnitures
We took a long time hunting down the country-themed furnitures, so imagine my joy when we finally found a place that caters to all our needs! Best of all, they offer customisation, so we did some changes to our bedside table (by combining 2 designs) and the chest of drawers.
On hindsight, I should have placed order for another chest of drawers, for the current one is bursting with clothes! Or, maybe I should throw away Leecher's stuff, since he's pretty fond of throwing away my stuff, keke.

Bought our first set of bedsheets from IKEA china, where they have lots of king-sized bedsheets available. I lugged back 2 sets, for SG only have queen sizes for those designs that I liked.

 Storage Rack in Storeroom

Did a 4-tier storage rack in the bomb shelter for us to organise our stuff. Packed those stuff into Toyogo boxes, so it's easier for us to retrieve the things when required :)

1st item in our cupboard :)

When we were packing our belongings to move over, I've pondered over what is the 1st thing I should put inside our walk-in wardrobe. Yes, I'm that bo liao sometimes, haha! Hence, the 1st thing that I placed inside our cupboard comes in a lil white box ..... which contained

our wedding bands :)

The perfect item to put in a house that we will be staying, one that we shared our laughter, tears and happiness :)

Reno Diary - Cleaning up the House

The place was cleaned before our designers handed the keys over, but we decided to clean up the house thoroughly for it was left vacant for almost 3 weeks before we can make time for the cleaning trip. Forced Roped in lil brother to help out as well. The guys took over the living & bedrooms while I was in charge of the kitchen.

Lil bro & Leecher busy vacuuming & sweeping the floor. First time I see my lil bro so hardworking, haha!

Then, they went down on all fours to mop the floor, inspecting the tiles.

My cleaning turf, in the kitchen.  Had to clean it thoroughly, if not Leecher will grumble, haha!

Reno Diary - Blessing the House

Our designers handed over the keys to us, a sign that renovation is finally completed! *yippee* A place to call our home :) We chose an auspicious day to bless the house, a ritual that we kept it simple and fuss free. I googled online to find out the essentials stuff required and omitted some items which are difficult to get.

The essential stuff, all packed.

Leecher - waiting for the auspicious timing to kick open the door.

Small pineapple, courtesy of our parents. Pineapples to bring wealth and fortune into the house :)

After entering the house, firstly, open all the windows to let the fresh air flow into the house to clean the Qi (energies) in the house. Next, switch on all the lights to light up the area.

Not forgetting the rest of the items -  the 5 essential items for the kitchen: cooking oil, vinegar, salt, sugar and rice.

Leecher boiling a pot of water over our new stove and we both drank a bit of the water. No idea what that was supposed to mean, but mummy dearest set the rules, haha!

Then, it was over to IKEA for a quick lunch before furniture shopping. We were frequently IKEA so often that it became our fave hangout place for a few months.

As the pieces were too heavy to carry on its own, we opened up each package and separated the pieces to carry them (piece by piece) up the house.

Loots from IKEA - cushions, dining table, 2 bar stools and some miscellaneous stuff.

Leecher taking charge of the dining table.

While I fixed the bar stools .... felt as if we were playing lego, but this lego version required lots of hammering and drilling. Sense of satisfaction when you see the assembled pieces :)

Reno Diary - Bathroom Accessories & Touch Up

Hello! Mid-week once again :) celebrated Khim's birthday 2 weekends back and boy, I was dead tired when we got home in the wee hours of the morning. The whole weekend was spent at home, recuperating - signs of growing old :( Taking a break from blogging about TW, so here's the continuation of our reno journey!

Installation of bathroom accessories

We bought most of our bathroom accessories from 2 places, mainly Heritage Bathroom Accessories & Ikea.

Leecher shopping for accessories @ Ikea Tampines. We prefer Ikea @ Tampines for it's closer to our place and also, there seemed to be more variety as well.

Installed a miniature sink in the service yard.

We didn't do any reno work for the common bathroom to bring down the cost of renovation. Installed the heater and some bathroom accessories.

Instead, we spent slightly more on renovating the master bedroom toilet, installed some cupboards for storage and changed the sink :) Wanted to have 2 sinks, but the design of the toilet prevented us from doing so. Hence, we ended up having a his-and-her corner. Leecher's stuff goes to the right side of the sink while mine goes onto the left side, on the pretty rack that I picked out from Ikea :)

 Touch-up

A week before the official handover, we checked through the house and took note of any areas that required additional touch ups. Our designers arranged for one of their guys to come over to finish up the work.

The worker was quite diligent. Not only did he worked on the areas that we spotted, he went around the room and looked through to ensure that everything was in place before he called it a day. Hardworking fellow, me like!
