Gold Class Experience

Leecher always lament that I am the cause of his movie-droughts since I don't believe in paying for the expensive-$10 bucks/ticket on the wkend. Having waited for 7 months before he got to watch his first movie in 2008, I let him dragged me to the cinema in Jan for our 1st movie date 2009.

Think I actually succumbed (Leecher here: now I think Blamer got vocab problem. How can it be succumbed to my principles? Succumb = give in. Give in to my principles? Definitely sound weird) to my principles? NO! Haha, we had to use our complimentary gold class vouchers which accounts for this movie date :P If not, I think Leecher will have to wait till Jun/July when Transformer 2 opens in Singapore. (Blamer forgot to mention that the tickets came from ME. YES Me!)

Gold Class 就是不一样. Special counter catered for GC queue & the tickets are put within the GC voucher before returning back to you. Even I am excited :)

Proceeding to the Gold Class Lounge to relax while waiting for the movie to start. Leecher concluded that this is a gimmick for patrons to spend more money, since you will be compelled to order something for the movie. Lesson learnt - next time, just walk straight to the theatre or you will end up $35 bucks poorer.

Leecher seems to be pretty excited sitting in the lounge - that was before he paid $35 bucks for our meal, haha. Think he was so high that he even posed with a peanut in between his fingers (o_O)'''''' Couldn't take pictures inside the theatre though :( Food-wise was ok, though most of the time, I didn't know what I was putting inside my mouth. Nevertheless, it was a pretty good experience, I love the chair & blanket! Don't think I will spend that kind of money just for a movie, however, vouchers are always welcome!

First Concert of 2009

Recently I got lucky and won a pair of concert tickets for dining at 螃蟹之家.

Not the Jay-Chou type of concerts but it's for a singer of my generation though...

Pan Mei Chen and Zhao Yung Hwa! Ok maybe not Zhao Yung Hwa but Pan Mei Chen is definitely my era. I must admit she does have a group of strong supporters.

But it's dinner first. My first time at Makansutra Glutton's Bay, sad to say, not much of a draw for me as u can see, I returned empty handed.

Ended up, Blamer and me walked over to the Singapore Flyer to check out the food there.

Guess wat, they actually have Popeyes. To be frank, I prefer their chicken to KFC's anytime.

Two piece chicken meal. Firstly, their fries are lightly coated with a seasoned batter. Secondly they serve the chicken with a pastry which they called "biscuit". Really love the buttery flakey "biscuit". Of cos, their chicken is succulent, moist and tender. Yums!

After dinner, it's concert proper. Really feel arty-farty coming to esplanade for the concert.

Blamer can't resist but to cam-whore a bit.

Proceed upstairs to our gallery seats... ...

Mentioned earlier that Pan Mei still has a strong fan base, these are the flowers sent by her fans. Remember the time when Aaron Kwok just came into the entertainment scene, he practically 掀起 Mac'Donalds' hairstyle and everyone starts copying him like, 林志颖 and 孙耀威. For Pan Mei Chen, I must say she is the one that revoluntionalise 中性打扮.

I tried to take some photo of the concert hall but amazingly, it seems that I get the right focus. Tried once...

Twice, but still can't get it right. There's a force preventing me from taking a good pic... ...

Surprisingly, the concert turned out to be quite enjoyable. Nice, nostalgic songs and both Pan Mei Chen and Zhao Yung Hwa was every humorous. Wouldn't mind turning up for more of these concerts as long as they are free. Wa ha ha ha.

Bolt The Movie

{another super overdue post} Another complimentary movie for the year, courtesy of JP Morgan :) Leecher called me urgently (4 missed calls when I was on the phone with client) on a Friday evening, asking if I am interested to watch a movie ....

Leecher: Yoz, you wanna watch movie later?
Me: *surprised* wow, you gg to book the tickets?
Leecher: I already did
Me: *surprised x 2* cool ~ what are we watching?
Leecher: Bolt
Me: Bolt? Why?
Leecher: Cuz it's FREE!!!
Me: ..........

For a spilt second, I thought Leecher really went to book tickets for a movie date with me. Well, since the tickets are complimentary, so we shouldn't waste it, hahaa ....

So, off we went to The Cathay :)

{going to make a suaku-ish statement} Since I nv been to the Cathay before, must take a picture to leave my footprints, hahaha

Can't believe its almost Xmas time - another year has gone by, so fast ....

Another 35 mins to the start of the movie, thus, we grabbed a quick bite @ Hotdog Factory

Yummy ~ I think food always taste good when sharing it with Leecher :P

Our tickets + a set of popcorn & drink

We met the organiser on the way up the escalator and he gave us another ticket to redeem 1 more combo set, yeah! So we ended up with 2 sets, yum yum.

Leecher with the free tickets ....

me with the caramel popcorns ....

Bolt the movie was quite entertaining, even better than I expected. I lost count of the number of times whereby the 2 of us burst out laughing at our fave character

Tadah! Bolt's no.1 fan - the hamster!

Even Leecher wants to pose with it, hahaha ... Don't you think the 2 of them share something in common? Wa ha ha ha ha

Our happy 4th movie date of the year :)

Fave movie of the year - Wall-E

Caught 3 movies so far this year (complimentary across various sources :P, yeah!)

1. The Dark Knight was pretty exciting with super effects, cool gadgets and impressive acting (the late Heath Ledger as Joker truely deserves the little golden man)

2. The Mummy 3 was kinda crappy. No actions (or the lack of good action) & lame acting. Tried too hard to be funny. All the time, my head was going dizzy from the less-than-impressive effects. I should count my lucky stars that this was FOC, for I would have banged my head against the wall for wasting money on such a crappy show.

3. Wall - E. This has officially become my fave movie of the year, never mind that we still have another 3 months to close off the year. I saw the trailer for Wall-E while waiting for the screening of The Mummy 3 and told Leecher that I must watch this movie. So, on the day of release, I dragged Leecher to watch this movie :)

As we had to exchange our complimentary passes for tickets, we couldn't go through any online booking. So, poor me had to keep monitoring the online booking system of GV to make sure that we wont make a wasted trip. I am not going to sit at the first 2 rows for this movie. Heng, we managed to get pretty good seats, haha

We only had 20 mins for our dinner though :( Polished off the tim-sum and rushed to the cinema for our movie. 97 mins, enjoyed every single minute of it.

This movie was supposedly to be educating us about the environmental issues, but I was more captivated by the love that Wall-E has for Eve :) Simple and sweet, I can't recall the number of times that I go "awwwwww" in the cinema whenever Wall-E did something for Eve, be it taking care of her while she was "in coma", chasing her across the universe when he thought that she was being "kidnapped" , protecting her and helping her to accomplish her "mission". To Wall-E, all he ever wanted was to hold Eve's hand, which he sees it as a sign of love. Sometimes, love is just so simple & sweet, pure & innocent ....

Love it when Wall-E goes "Eeeeeee.....vvvvvvvv.......aaaaaaaaa". Wall-E only knows how to say Eve & directive (which is mission in Robot's lingo)

Ya, I am in love with the both of them.

I wanna get a Wall-E & Eve toy, anyone knows where to get it?

While I am smitten with Wall-E, Leecher thinks Eve is more chio, cuz she looks classier. So now, we have got imaginary bf & gf for ourselves, LOL

First Movie in 2008

Folks, look at my face.

Believe it or not, I'm going to the cinema!! (fireworks in backgrd, lotsa backgrd cheering and clapping)

Even I can't believe it, my first movie in 2008?! (Blamer dun believe in paying the price of the movie tickets, hence I have been deprived of watching movies in cinema since... ... God knows?)

Must thank my employer and my credit cards points for allowing me to step into the cinema after all these years.

Armed with my tickets, cinema here I come. Blamer still have the cheek to ask me whether should we buy some popcorn and drinks in, if not we might look loser-ish. DUH?! This being our first movie this year, we are already loser-ish! Missed my Kungfu Panda : ( sobs.

Strangely, nostalgic feeling overwhelmed me while looking from this angle. Pretty good movie, liked the story line and the whole lots of twists and turns in the plot. A must see for all batman fans.

After the movies, went Haagen Daz for some dessert. Created our own flavours, chocolate cookies, macademia nuts and rum n raisin. Advice: do not include rum n raisin next time if u include something warm like the crepe we had. The rum n raisin melts really fast and before u know it, u've got a gooey mess.
