Since I was so efficient last week at blogging about the KL trip, I have decided to finish this trip before everything else (^^) After being stuck in client's place for almost 3 hours, I came out of the building to be greeted with a heavy downpour. I couldn't get a cab & was feeling anxious about not being able to make it for the next appointment. Thankfully, a cab turned into the driveway and the uncle agreed to send me to the client's place since it was just nearby. I still had to run in the rain, for the uncle couldn't turn into the alley in which the building was located. I was half-drenched when I showed up at my client's place - headed to the washroom to freshen up first before we talk business.
A 4-min drive from the client's place back to the hotel turned into a 45-min drive, for it was pouring + peak hour traffic. I flagged for a cab and wanted to jump in when I noticed there was a female sitting in front at the passenger seat. The driver told me that it's ok and he will send me back to the hotel. Turned out that the girl was his GF. It certainly felt strange riding a cab with a pair of love birds in front, but thankfully they didn't do anything funny.
The heavy jam as seen from my room. I even had to get out of the cab in the middle of the road & walked back to the hotel for it was just too frustrating to be sitting in the cab when I'm just less than 100m away from the entrance.
Back at the hotel. I was famished and it was still drizzling outside, so I ditched my plan of heading out to the nearby shopping mall to eat.
The quiet corridor well lit with warm lights :)
Changed into my comfy flats for dinner. This pair of flats has got to be the most expensive pair I've ever owned at $40 bucks! I had to buy this pair as an emergency, for my flats gave way on the Esplanade bridge while I was walking to meet Winston for lunch one day. I was practically dragging my feet in my old flats to the nearest shoe shop that I could find. Thankfully this pair doesn't bit, if not it won't be worth the price that I paid (^^)
Since no one was in the lift, heh.
Headed down to Level 1, where most of the restaurants are located.
Overlooking the hotel lobby & lobby lounge. How I wish I had time to pop down for a glass to relax & recharge :)
The flower centerpiece as seen from above - absolutely fascinating!
Decided on Shang Palace for dinner. This was actually my 2nd visit to Shang Palace. The first visit was with Boss & Eric - I didn't take pics cuz paiseh, lol! I did, however sneak a few pics on my iphone but will blog about it in another KL entry.
Shang Palace - famous for their authentic Cantonese cuisine.
I don't recall
stepping foot into Shangri-La Singapore but will do so at EK &
Pris' Wedding next year :) I don't know if all Shang Palace follow the
same theme, but this was set in an ancient Chinese grandeur.
I sat at the same table during the 1st visit - what a coincidence!
They even brought magazines for me, since I was dining alone. So touched by their gesture! My tea cup was always refilled & plates were cleared promptly, excellent service :)
Pan fried pork ribs with Chef's special sauce and onions. This was a tad salty for my liking, but the meat was so tender. I like it that the meat was cut into tiny pieces - felt just like eating popcorn, lol!
Pan fried foie gras with vinegar sauce and stuffed scallops with spicy bean sauce. I couldn't taste any tinge of vinegar sauce. A great combination of foie gras served on top of a slice of fried beancurd :) Scallops were stuffed with i-dunno-what-meat and it was juicy :)
Since Shang Palace is famous for Cantonese food, I ordered the combination Cantonese dim sum platter. This consisted of shrimp dumpling, pork dumplings with scallop, crisp shrimp rolls and spring rolls. I have to say this was a disappointment - the spring roll was so oily that I could only manage a mouthful. Oil literally oozed out from it when I placed it on my plate :(
What a spread - I finished everything, lol! *glutton me*
